SATURDAY, JULY 15 Wallowa Valley All Day Singing: 9 a.m. Hurricane Creek Grange, 63081 Hurricane Creek Rd. Four-part a cappella singing. An all-Amer- ican art form of community singing that had its beginnings in New England in the 1800s. Come for part of the day or all day. Loaner books will be available. Potluck lunch at noon. Work party at Flora School: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m, with School Days meeting to follow (potluck lunch meeting). Finish items and small proj- ects. The Chief Joseph Days Little Buckaroo Rodeo for Special Needs Children and Adults is 9 a.m. July 26 at Harley Tucker Rodeo Grounds in Joseph. Participants of all ages are welcome. Events include goat tail untying, stick horse barrel race, bouncy horse race, dummy roping, dummy bull riding and horseback rides. Participants receive a Western hat, t-shirt, ban- danna and lariat. Cash prizes in these categories: costumes, wheels, ﬂ oats, marching and riding. Each entry will receive a cou- pon for a small ice cream cone at R & R. No licensed motorized vehicles unless operated by the contestant. Entrants must be under age 18. Registration is available online at chiefjosphdays. com or behind Indian Lodge Motel at 9 a.m. the day of the parade. 4. The Chief Joseph Days Grand Parade in downtown Joseph is 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29. The theme is “Cowboy Boots and Coun- try Roots.” Entry deadline is July 13. The parade begins at Third and Lake streets. Parade results will be avail- able at Chief Joseph Days Rodeo ofﬁ ce at 1 p.m. after the parade. No candy or other objects may be thrown from ﬂ oats or vehicles; how- ever, entries may hand out candy while walking along- side parade vehicles. BBQ Wednesday Rose Marie Boyd July 7,1945 to July 2, 2017 Rose Marie Boyd, 72, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise, Idaho. A viewing was held at Loveland Funeral Chapel on Fri- day, July 7. A Graveside Service was held at Bramlet Cemetery in the lower Wal- lowa Valley July 8. There will be a memorial celebration at a later date. Rose was born June 7, 1945, in Port- land, Ore., to Leo and Geniva (Gillis) LeVasseur. She never met a stranger. If Rose Marie Boyd she did, they were not a stranger for long. She was loved by so many. Rose is survived by her husband, Henry Ernest Boyd; sons, Bill (Tanya) of Kennewick, Wash., and Patrick (Marie) of Port- land; sisters, Bonnie McConnell of Oregon City, Ore., and Audrey Clinton of Vancouver, Wash.; 7 grandchildren, 17 fos- ter children and many nieces and nephews. Debra English August 30, 1958 to July 2, 2017 Debra English, 58, of Enterprise passed away peacefully July 2, 2017, with family by her side. She was born Aug. 30, 1958, to Rob- ert “Bob” and Winifred English in Enter- prise. She was the ﬁ fth of nine children. Debra enjoyed spending time in the mountains, camping, mushrooming and berry picking as well as rock collecting. She always said her greatest accomplish- ments were her six children, and she was Debra English proud of each of them. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren but called them her great-grandkids because they are all so great. In her ﬁ nal days she wished for everyone who was a part of her life to know how blessed she was and that her life was so much richer because of the love she was shown. Debra is survived by the father of her six children Pete Haney, of Heppner, Ore.; her children Andrea Haney of Joseph. Angela (Monte) Zindler of Livingston, Mont., Alicia (Jesse) Wolfe of Winlock, Wash., Amelia (Kahn) Boutdavong of Springﬁ eld, Ore., Adrian (Jenny) Haney of Heppner and Austin Haney. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Caleb, Aaron, Zach- ary and Andrew Beal, Lilla Parsons, Kylan and Kameron Haney, Peyton Haney, Tyson Boutdavong and Alexia and Emalee Wolfe. She is also survived by two brothers, Tom Wilson and David English, and ﬁ ve sisters: Loraine Tillery, Corine Haga, Sandra English, Robin Johnson and Kimberly Varner. Debra was preceeded in death by her father Robert “Bob” English, her mother Winifred English, her sister Janice Kepler, two nephews, Brandon Varner and Gavyn Owings, as well as her dear friend Johnnie Renfroe. The family wishes to extend gratitude to Dr. Rusty Woods, Winding Waters Clinic, and Wallowa Memorial Hospital for their compassion and support during this difﬁ cult time. A special thank you to Marshall Cox and Debbie Turkington whose love for their mother is as deep an any of her own children. A potluck memorial service will be held at Wallowa Senior Center 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15. Brad was a loving father, son, brother and friend. He also was an excellent contractor and did beautiful woodworking. He was born Sept. 13, 1965, in Port- land, and died in Vancouver, Wash. Brad is survived by three children, daughters Catelyn and Meaghan; and son Brysen; his mother, Julie Preston; sis- Brad Preston ter Alesia Spencer (Kenny); uncle, Scott Thompson (Mary); a cousin; a niece and nephews; one great niece and ﬁ ancé Cheryl Teilmann. He was preceded in death by his father Dick Preston. A celebration of life will be 10 a.m. Sunday, July 30, at the head of Wallowa Lake (picnic area). Anyone who knew Brad is invited to share memories. Brad will be deeply missed.
