HAFER MEMORIAL The Hafer Memorial 4-H Award is open to all Wallowa County 4-H members currently enrolled in a 4-H Livestock & Home Ec project. Application must be submitted to the Extension Office by July 1. Award criteria are available at the Extension office. The top three scoring applicants will have personal interview with selection committee. The winner will be announced at Family Appreciation Night. Hafer Memorial — award to outstanding 4-H member (Livestock and Family and consumer science Project mem- bers) sponsored by Mary Stangel & Phyllis Johnson families. FFA GENERAL FFA RULES (Also refer to 4-H/FFA Livestock Division Rules) 1. All exhibitors shall be paid up members of good standing in a regularly chartered Wallowa County Future Farmers Chapter and shall be enrolled in all day classes in Vocational Agriculture. An FFA Advisor may petition the Fair Board prior to all market animal possession dates if they have a gradu- ated student who may want to participate in the Market Auction program one year beyond high school. Any peti- tioned FFA member, must show in showmanship. But will not be allowed to advance to All Around 2. FFA exhibitors cannot stay on fairgrounds over¬night. Gates lock at 10 PM and open at 5 AM. 3. All members must show in Showmanship to sell a market animal. 4. All animals will compete for grand cham¬pion within the respective breeds. 5. Classes may be entered as crossbred. a. Partnership animals may be shown when the student owns 25% interest or more in the animal and it is so stated in the project agree¬ment. b. All females must conform to breed type except Crossbred. 6. The 4-H/FFA Memorandum of Understanding will be enforced in Wallowa County. 7. No animal may be shown in more than one class except grand champion, champion, dam and pro¬duce, and founda- tion . 8. In the foundation classes, the male cannot be related to the females. Males must be of breeding age. Foundation classes may also consist of 3 females--only 1 of which can be between 4 and 12 months of age. The others must be older. Beef and Dairy foundation classes shall consist of 2 females and 1 unrelated male. Male shall be at least 12 months old. 9. In market and feeder classes, all breeds compete. All mar- ket animals will be weighed in, and classes will be deter- mined by weight. 10. Dairy and Beef cows must have dropped a calf by age of 36 months. 11. In the case of no competition, the premium ribbon will be awarded on its own merit at the discretion of the judge. 12. Special programs or interpretation of rules will be han- dled by the FFA Stock Show Committee. 13. All exhibits will be judged by the Danish System, and all ribbons and premiums will be awarded by the Danish System. Premiums are as follows for all entries: Blue rib- bons, 25 points; red ribbons, 15 points; and white ribbons, 10 points. 14. FFA exhibitor must clean out manure in stalls used and place in designated area. Stalls will be left cleaned follow- ing the fair or premium money may be forfeited. 15. Any intentional damage to either public or private proper- ty that can be traced to exhibitors shall be paid out of exhibitor's premium money. 16. Any violation of rules of this book or other correspon- dence regarding events mentioned herein shall bar exhibitors from exhibiting, entering contests, and obtaining any premium money. 17. The fair management assumes no responsibility for any loss or injury to animals, equipment or exhibits. 18. Only two (2) entries per exhibitor per class, except mar- ket animals. Each exhibitor is limited to one market animal that must sell at the auction. 19. Animals cannot be shown in more than one division (Greenhand/Advanced). 20. To compete as a Greenhand, the student must be in their first year of Vo-Ag and not be above the sophomore level. 21. All protests must be in writing and accompanied by a deposit of $25. The protest must plainly state the cause of complaint and be given to a Fair Board member within 24 hours after cause of the protest. If ruled unjustified, deposit is forfeited. 22. FFA Fair Entry registrations must be turned in to the Fair Office by 12:00 pm, July 12, 2017.
