4-H DRESSAGE HORSE
Contestants who qualify for State Fair in equitation/show-
manship may also enter Dressage if they received a score of
58% or higher on any Training Level Test or any First Level
test at their county fair using the same horse as used in equi-
tation/showmanship. Riders may ride only one test at State
Fair, and it must be the test they rode at their county fair and
in which they received the qualifying score. A member who
scores 62% or higher at fair must progress up to the next test
the following year. (The requirement to move up does not
apply to a new horse or in test change years.) [See 4-H
1311, 4-H Dressage Manual]. Riders limited to 1 class. The
short arena will be used for Training Level tests and the stan-
dard arena for First Level tests. The 2015 tests must be
used. (Intro levels are county only classes.).

4-H HORSE JUMPING
Riders limited to the jumping class they qualify for prior to
fair. Member must use horse they qualify with and compete
only in class they qualify. Pre-qualifying for jumps prior to fair
is for safety of horse and member. Members are not
required to pre-qualify if they have previously pre-qualified
said horse and are jumping same level. However, that horse
must have been used at last year’s County Fair. Back-up
horse must still be pre-qualified. (Example: If a member
jumps the same horse and the same level 2 years in a row,
they don’t need to qualify the second year.) Jumping classes
may be conducted somewhere other than the Wallowa
County Fairgrounds.
Hunter Hack
Class to be judged on flat work, manners, way of going, style
over fences and even hunting pace. Class description:
Walk, trot, canter both directions; jump 2 fences not to
exceed 2 feet.
There must be at least one combination jump and one
change of direction. To be judged on performance and man-
ners, with preference shown to horses covering the course
with free flowing strides and jumping fences without inter-
rupting rhythm. (Among horses maintaining this rhythm,
preference should be given to those meeting fences square-
ly and not at an angle and jumping at the center of each
fence). Upon completion of entire class over fences, finalists
will be jogged, dismounted, past the judges for soundness,
in order of intended placement. Only Blue Ribbon
Intermediates & Seniors in Hunt Seat Over Fences classes
qualify for State Fair (if participant meets other State Fair
requirements).
