O BITUARIES Lawrence ‘Larry’ R. Morse Aug. 22, 1931 — Jan. 11, 2017 W. Ray Jeffords Aug. 10, 1931 — Jan. 2, 2017 Lawrence “Larry” R. Morse passed away peacefully on Jan. 11, 2017 at Wallowa Valley Me- morial Hospital. Larry was born on Aug. 22, 1931 in Elk Grove, California, to Ruby and Egbert Morse. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mil- dred, Bertha (Boots), Irene and Elvin. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elaine, their two children Laurel and Daniel and Daniel’s wife Lisa. As well, he is survived by his many grandchildren. Amanda with her hus- band Daniel, Emily, Annie, Katie, Brennon and Conner; and by his one great-grandson, Jude; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was an avid outdoorsman. He lived his life ranching in his beloved Wallowa County. He was often found out fl ying, fi shing, boating, camping, hiking, skiing or biking in and around these Wallowa mountains. Larry enjoyed playing football as well as trumpet in the band in high school. His love of music was lifelong. He was often found singing or listening to the classics. Larry was active in the Community Church as a choir mem- ber for many years. He was a member of the Cattlemen’s Asso- ciation, serving as president for two years. Larry was one of the original board members for the Wallowa Lake Gondola. He served as his student body president at Galt High School. Larry was a member of the United States Air Force, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal as well as a Good Conduct Medal. He will be missed by his many friends and family. A celebra- tion of his life is planned for later this spring. On Jan. 2, 2017, W. Ray Jeffords passed away. He was born on Aug. 10, 1931 to Wendell and Myrtle (Wickam) Jeffords in Baker City, Oregon. He spent his younger years in Baker City and graduated from Baker City High School. From there he joined the United States Air Force and spent most of his four years in France. He married Janet Murray on July 2, 1955, and they eventu- ally had four children. He spent most of his life in Wallowa County where he was a rancher, logger, mill worker, and custodian for the Elgin School District, from which he retired. During our high school years, because he had a 4-wheel drive pickup with a winch, he always seemed to be on-call day or night to pull friends and family out of some place they should not have been. Everyone was welcome at the house, so on some weekends, when family members rose in the mornings, they had to watch our step since they did not know who would be asleep on one of couches or on the fl oor. He loved working with his hands and because of his love of working with wood, his children, grandchildren, plus many friends have furniture he built. Many of them said they would not have much furniture if it were not for his craftsmanship. He was still building furniture when he passed. Nothing made him happier or his wife more frustrated than when he was tracking sawdust through the house. He and his wife loved to travel, taking back roads so they could see the countryside. As they grew older, their children began driving them to different locations; this way they could check out all of the countryside and just enjoy the ride. They visited Germany, France, and Austria, many parts of the United States, and wanted to visit all 59 National Parks. He did not quite make all 59 parks, but got to see many of them. He also loved to fi sh, so he and his wife would sometimes hook up their trailer and go to Billy Meadows or up Bear Creek to stay for a few days and do some relaxing and fi shing, many times with his cousin Ralph Warden. He is survived by his wife, Janet, and all four of his children: Kimberlie (Mark), Tim (Deb- bie), Tammy (Burke), and Pamela (Doug); fi ve grandchildren: Katrina (Wylie), Tia (Sam), Cricket (Chance), Lisa (BJ), and Amanda (Jeremy); fi ve great grandchildren: Kacie, Kristyn, Blaine, Brodie, and Kalley; nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by both of his parents, two sis- ters, one brother, a grandson (Joseph), and various aunts, un- cles, and cousins. There will be no services at this time, but there will be a me- morial service in the spring or summer so everyone who wants to attend can. Instead of fl owers, please donate to the charity of your choice or the Alzheimer’s Association. Bollman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. During last Saturday’s 47-46 heart- stopping loss to the top-ranked Imbler Panthers, the junior showed composure far beyond his years, even after the team was down 19-5 after the first quarter. Greenshields was the first to spear through the Panthers iron curtain zone defense and quickly made his presence known through his rebounding, shooting skills and will to win. He put up 12 points by the end of the game, more than a quarter of the Outlaws final score. Brett Greenshields Proudly Sponsored By: Eastern Oregon’s Full Service Propane Supplier 201 E.
