In the fi rst tragic fi ght with a man/ bull Percy wins but he loses his mother with a horn of the man/bull (minotaur). After that Percy gets a quest to get back a symbol of power from Hades that he stole from Zeus, the sky god. If you want to know what happens read the lightning thief. Thomas Bales If you are looking for a good book, the Harry Potter series is the series for you. The Harry Pot- ter books would be a perfect hol- iday gift for children and grand- children. The Harry Potter books are action packed and are fi lled with adventures. Harry rides on hippogriffs, swims with mermen, and battles giant snakes. The fi rst book is called the Chamber of Secrets. Doesn’t that sound cool? The awesome author is J.K. Rowling. I think these books would be a perfect Christmas present. Jessica Journigan A good book for people who like realistic fiction is When Zachary Beaver Came to Town. This book is really funny and interesting. Zacha- ry Beaver is the heaviest kid in the world. It is a Newberry award winner and I think it de- serves to be one. The author of this book is Kimberly Wil- lis Holt. I think this book is overall funny and I definitely recommend it. Ty Prince Are you looking for a good series to read… Savvy by Ingrid Law! This is a book about a girl names Mibs. She is a 13 years old. She wants to know what her savvy is. A savvy is a superpow- er. She thought her savvy was the power to wake people up. She tried it on an unconscious home- less guy, it turns out her savvy isn’t the power to wake people up. So after that she had to go back home. She has been driving to a different city trying to fi nd her papa, who is in a coma. If you want to know what her real savvy is, read Savvy by Ingrid Law. Other books in the series are: Scumble and Switch. Karly Baremore Mrs. Gibbs’ 5th grade class Wallowa Looking for the perfect book to give as a Christmas gift? Ms. Gibbs’ fi fth graders in Wallowa have some great recommenda- tions! If you like action packed books then you will like the “Michael Vey” series! Richard Paul Evans was very creative and imaginative to make these books. Michael Vey is very electrical and dangerous! While on the run from the Elgin he realizes that there are more people like him. Then the Elgin kidnap his mother and leaves him no choice but to break in and get in a compound; what he didn’t want to happen. These books are for kids 10 and over! Treyton Sams I recommend The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan to any- one who likes an action packed series with Percy Jackson and his friends. There are 5 books in this series; the lightning thief is the fi rst book.
