Berge passed away Dec. 21 in Coos Bay, Ore. He was born March 23, 1931, in Miles City, Mont., to Fred and Amanda Bailey Berge. He attended school in Wallowa and graduated from Wallowa High School in 1949. He married Frances A. Shelby on May 28, 1955, at Myrtle Creek. He had 60 years of married life with many exciting events. He be- came a Christian later in life and had a myriad of church fami- lies for love and support along with his family and other friends. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances; children David L. and Carol Berge in Sitka, Alaska, Susan A. and How- ie Donley in Bandon, Ore., Joan M. Sign the online guestbook at www.theworldlink.com. Ernest F. (Ernie) Paterson of Wal- lowa passed away Jan. 18 at Wallowa Memorial Hospital. Ernie was born to Ernest and Hester (Nicky) Pater- son on June 5, 1941, in Forest Grove, Ore. He was the second of four chil- dren; Tom, (Ernie), Jerry and Ava. He attended school in Forest Grove until his junior year in high school. He excelled in high school football and was a lifelong football fan. His family moved to La Grande and Ernie graduated from La Grande High School in 1959. He graduated from Eastern Oregon University with a degree in educa- tion. He took several advanced courses at the University of Oregon and Oregon State University, where he became an avid Beavers fan. He earned a master’s degree in counseling. His career was spent in several locations, all in Oregon, as a high school counselor and sometimes coach. He stayed in touch with many of his former students over the years, being proud to call them friends. He spent most summers working for the Oregon State Forestry in the Fire Division, where he made many more friends. Ernie married Linda Thomas, who gave him two beautiful daughters: Kirsten Paterson Klym and Darsa Paterson Morrow. Ernie and Linda later divorced. He was the proud grandfather of Joseph and Keaton Klym, as well as Max, Toby and Hatcher Mor- URZ+HVSHQWWKHODVW\HDUV¿VKLQJKXQWLQJDQGFDPSLQJZLWK the love of his life, Nancy Hall. Ernie loved to talk about his many river trips and the good friends and family he shared them with. He could always be found surrounded by fun people. Morrow; grandsons Joseph and Keaton Klym, and Max, Toby and Hatcher Morrow; loving partner Nancy Hall; brother Tom (wife Sri) Paterson; sister Ava (husband Don) Carter; many nieces and nephews and a mul- titude of friends. Gerald Joseph Perren Nov. 7, 1928 to Jan. 19, 2016 Gerald Joseph Perren 87, of Enterprise died Jan. 19, 2016. Jerry Perren was born Nov. 7, 1928 at the family farm on Prai- rie Creek to Henry Joseph Perren and Goldie Pearl Day Perren. He attended Pratt School prior to en- tering Enterprise High School, where he graduated in 1947. Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in early spring before graduation. His sister Dolores had to pick up his diploma. Jerry was an outstanding football player for the Enterprise Savages. Shortly after enlistment, the Army Air Corps changed its name to the US Air Force, and Jerry was off to Greenland after basic training.
