2015 WALLOWA COUNTY FAIR PREMIUM SUPPLEMENT - PAGE 23 4-H DOG OBEDIENCE The Dog Show is Saturday All dogs will have a health check prior to the show. (Please note date of dog show in Schedule of Events on Page 3.) All dogs exhibited at the fair must be currently vaccinated for rabies, DH, or DHP, and Parvo Virus. Proof of vaccination must be recorded in record book and documentation brought with you for check in of animals. If a dog has a visible skin or physical problem, a certificate from a veterinarian is required indicating the condition is not con- tagious or harmful to other dogs during competition. Females in season will be shown at the end of the day and should remain in the area specified by the show chair during the day. All dog exhibitors must show in showmanship. Drilling of dogs on the show grounds is prohibited. Dogs must wear properly fitted collars. See 4-H 1202, 4-H Dog Obedience, Showmanship and Contest Guide for specific Rules .No pinch collars are allowed. 4-H DOG OBEDIENCE & SHOWMANSHIP RULES: Class order: All Showmanship and Obedience classes will be completed first and will be followed by “In- County” classes (Trick, Costume, Agility). Ring assign- ments and order of classes will be announced at beginning of show and may be updated throughout the day. It is the member’s responsibility to know where they will be showing and to inform the show chairman of any conflicts that arise. 2. Competition open to 4-H'ers in grades 4—12 who are currently enrolled in Wallowa County Dog Obedience. All dogs shown by member must be owned or leased by the member by June 1 and carried in their 4-H record book. Any substitution of animals will be treated as a hardship case and may receive no higher than a 1. blue ribbon. Hardship cases not eligible for State Fair. Certification that all grooming and training has been done by 4-H'er and written permission of owner of all non-4-H owned dogs must be in record book at time of fair. 4. Dogs must be crated or on leash at all times except when being judged. Dogs must not be left unattended. Exhibitors expected in judging area at all times. Dogs are not permitted on the Fairgrounds except to partici- pate in 4-H Dog Show classes and then only in desig- nated areas; therefore, dogs not entered in the show are NOT allowed. 5. Classes held according to the AKC rules for dog obe- dience and exhibitors are expected to be familiar with those exercises. 6. Bitches in heat shall be shown at end of the day and are to be held in a separate area until time to show. Please notify show chairman before show starts. 7. A dog having won a blue ribbon in obedience class at last year’s fair should be advanced to the next level. A member with more than one dog in their project may enter only one dog in each level of obedience. 8. All exhibitors must show their obedience dog in a showmanship class. Exhibitors with more than one dog may choose which dog to show in showmanship. 9. To compete in showmanship, youth must know and be prepared to answer questions pertaining to: a. parts of a dog b. proper grooming c. dog health and care 10. All-Around awards will be given to First Year Junior, Junior, Intermediate and Senior divisions. Total points from the following will be used: 4-H Record Books, Presentation, Showmanship, Obedience, Costume, and Trick Dog and Agility. 3. Packets can be picked up at the Horse Show Office before classes begin. All exhibitors’ numbers must be worn when they enter the show ring and must be clear- ly visible at all times when in competition. All 4-H members participating in any equestrian activi- ty, regardless of riding seat, will wear a properly fitted equestrian helmet which meets the standards imposed by the American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM) F1163 and includes certification and labeling required by the Safety Equipment Institute (SEI). Such head- gear will be secured with the harness engaged and be properly fastened when mounted on an equine or in a vehicle (cart, wagon, buggy, etc.) being pulled by one or more equine. Boots and long-sleeved shirts are required. Girls should restrain hair with nets, braids, etc. to keep hair under control and present a clear view of exhibitor number.
