Lee Doris was born in Council, Idaho on Feb. 18, 1920, to Grace Mildred Rice and Perry Albert Warnock, descendants of pioneers and Wallowa Valley Nez Perce. She grew up in Idaho, graduating from high school in McCall. She married Milton LaFay and JDYHELUWKWRKHU¿UVWVRQ/DUU\EXWORVW0LOWRQLQDFRQVWUXFWLRQ accident in Hawaii shortly thereafter. She then married Lawrence )%ODLVD\RXQJ$LU)RUFHRI¿FHUDQGKDGWKUHHPRUHVRQV Lance Michael, who died as a child due to complications from surgery, Curtis, and Craig Christopher, who died at birth. He was 75. Don was born Aug. 4, 1939, in Ferdinand, Idaho to William %XGDQG0DUWKD/RUHQW] He was the second of eight children and was raised on the family farm where he learned WKHOLIHORQJYDOXHRIIDPLO\DQGKDUGZRUN+HJUDGXDWHGIURP Ferdinand High School in 1957. 'RQPRYHGWR(QWHUSULVH2UHJRQLQ+HORYHGWKH people and the Western lifestyle that the Wallowa Valley KDGWRRIIHU+HPDGHPDQ\IULHQGVRYHUWKH\HDUVZKLFKKH cherished dearly. In addition to his many friends, Don’s family meant the world to him. Don frequently made the journey to see WKHPDQGDOZD\VORRNHGIRUZDUGWRYLVLWVIURPKLVFKLOGUHQ grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. His younger years working with his Dad and immediate family set the stage for a lifelong career in farming and ranching. In addition to this, Don owned the Range Rider 7DYHUQLQ(QWHUSULVHIRURYHU\HDUV+HDOVRRZQHGDQG RSHUDWHG/RUHQW]7UXFNLQJIRUGHFDGHVWKURXJK%XW Don’s true passion was ranching. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, at St Katherine’s Catholic Church in Enterprise. The Mass will be preceded by a recitation of WKH5RVDU\DWDP%XULDOZLOOIROORZDWWKH(QWHUSULVH Cemetery. Following the burial, please join us for a potluck at the VFW in Enterprise to honor Don. He graduated from Enterprise High School in 1944. He had two younger sisters, 0DUDYHQHDQG/RYHWD%U\FH married Joan Roys July 18, 1951, LQ(QWHUSULVH$WWKDWWLPH%U\FH was a caretaker at the Enterprise &HPHWHU\DQGGXJIRXUJUDYHVE\ hand on the day of their wedding. His father was a garbage collector and that was where they got some clothes and shoes — which didn’t do his IHHWDQ\IDYRUVZKHQWKH\ZHUHWRRVKRUW+HHQMR\HGWHOOLQJMRNHV DQGZRXOGODXJKZKHQWHOOLQJWKHP%U\FHORYHGWRSOD\WKHJXLWDU mandolin, and piano, as well as singing with his wife or sang solos. $IWHUUHWLULQJKHORYHGVLQJLQJDWDQXUVLQJKRPHHYHU\ZHHN +HORYHGWKH/RUGKDGDJHQWOHNLQGVSLULWDQGKDGDSDVVLRQIRU helping people. During her senior year (1966) she was the Prom Queen. In 1986 Jill went to work for Costco where she spent 15 years.
