Moreover, Terry Baker will be back, at guard to quarterback the Beavers after quarterbacking the Oregon State football team to a 9-2 record and winning the Hcis man Trophy In the process. Oregon State tangles with na tionally 10th ranked West Vir ginia tonight with the 12th ranked Kentucky squad facing Iowa in the nightcap. Oregon State coach Slats Gill put his team through a 30-mlnute scrimmage Thursday and a team of substitutes beat the regulars . HUSTLING BRUIN John Welborn stands only 5-5, but the ' hustling Bend High junior is liable to appear a lot teller to opponents this lesion as John really gets around the court. Rogers Bachelor Butte will be moving into a dally operation this coming weekend, continuing daily untU April 14. According to Gift Blann, all equipment is in tip-top shape. In cidentally, Bachelor is one of two facilities in the Northwest that will be operational this weekend. One should look to lus better judgment so early in the season. Remember, you enthusiasts who are beginning your skiing in earn est this weekend, do not overdo the first time out. Portland State cagers belted By United Press International Western Washington continued its lopsided mastery over Oregon basketball teams Thursday night with a 79-36 lacing of Portland State at Bellingham, Wash. Western beat Pacific 77-47 the previous night Pacific regained Its winning ways Thursday night with a 70-63 decision over St. Martin's at Olympia, Wash. Ken Alcorn scored 21 points for the winners. Skyliner racers capture fhree of four fop spofs Skyliner racers performed very well in the Jere Gillis Memorial novice ski races at Bachelor Butte last weekend. Julie Meissner led the girls sla lom with runs of :54.9 and :44.7 for a 1:30.6 total. Christiana Cut ter won the girls downhill with a 1:16.2 clocking. Pete Francis won the boys downhill with a 1:09 time. Other Skyliners in the girls sla lom were Christiana Cutter, four th, 1:52.8; and Shannon Auld, fifth, 2:46.1.
