Emerson, and Marie Duck stars after 4-mile relay mark FRESNO, Calif. (UPI) Uni versity of Oregon, boasting the greatest quartet of milers ever attending one college at the same time, goes after the world four mile relay mark Saturday noon in the West Coast Relays. It's the kick-off of Die 36th an nual track and field carnival which boasts the slogan that this is where world records are broken. Headlining the fearsome four some of webfoots is Dyrol Burle son, who has bettered the four minute barrier. His best time this year is a nice 4:01.2. Archie San Romani, son of a one-time great track star at L'SC, hac been clocked in 4.03.8, Vic Reeve in 4:05.5 and Keith Forman 4:06.2. If they all get together on a best lime they could crack the world mark set by the New Zea land team led by Peter Snell and Murray Halberg, which is 16:23.8. The track is fast, as usual, for this year's meet. The weather man says the temperatures will between 70 and 80, with a slight wind of 5-10 miles an hour. The four-mile relay event will be the early feature of the show. During the night events, the only two men in history ever to clear the 16-foot mark will tangle for the first time. They are the Marines, John Uelses and David Tork and their battle may last through most of the night. Besides these two high flying performers, there are at least a half dozen others who have cleared 15 feet or better which was a magic height just a few years ago. The 100-yard dash also shapes up as a dandy, with Harry Jerome, the Canadian from Ore gon; Larry Dunn of Arizona and Dennis Johnson of San Jose State all having been clocked in 9.3 a tenth of a second off the world record. There's a seven-foot high jump er in the competition, too, in the person of Gene Johnson of Cali fornia: Dallas Long, the USC ace, will be tossing out past the 60 foot mark in the shot: and Jay 'Silvester of Fort Ord and Rink ENJOY EASY LIVING WITH '62 RAMBLERS t'.Jtuton many Selection Of "Select inped with Radio, ' " Junior shooters hot in recent meet here Bend junior rifle shooters had several fine performances in the Bend Rifle Clubs annual indoor tournament recently at the club. Mont, in late June, if Pen der's adviser has his way. John J. Cronin Jr., counsel for Pender, champion of Massachu setts, New York and Europe, ex pects final arrangements for the fight to be completed within the next two weeks. The same confusion that has clouded possession of the middle weight boxing championship for over two years has for the past 10 days surrounded the possibil ity of a title-clearing mutt-h. Originally Pender and Fullmer were to fight in Bozeman on June 9. But that bout went out the win dow when the promoters, Sam Sil verman of Boston and Norman Rothschild of Syracuse, were unable to find a willing television sponsor. Willi the collapse of original phuis, "three or four closed cir cuit promoters" moved in. ac cording to Cronin, and hope to stage the bout late next month. However, Pender's counsel warned, the arrangements would have to be completed within the next two weeks or the fight prob ably would not take place until fall. On the question of the fight site, Cronin says he has "no rea son to believe it will lake place anywhere oilier than Bozeman, Montana."
