sion and it means a retired Army
employe in Hawaii will have to do
without an extra $262.45.
The money would have gone to
Charles J. Utterback of Aiea for
being erroneously placed on leave
without pay for 12 days during
1939. Kennedy said retirement
credit given Utterback was ade
quate compensation for the gov
ernment's error.

Accidents take
lives of three
By United Prist Inttrnational
Three Oregon residents met ac
cidental death Thursday. Two of
the persons were killed in traffic
accidents.
The victims were David Tuthill,
28. Clackamas; Billy Roberts, 8.
Toledo, and Jack Vearrier, 22, a
Salem area farm worker.
Tuthill, an engineering techni
cian for Clackamas County, was
struck and killed by a dump
Iruck at a counly road project at
West Linn during the afternoon.
The Roberts boy lost his life
when struck by a Southern Pa
cific freight train at Toledo near
his home. The accident occurred
at night.
Vearrier was killed in a one-car
early morning accident in Salem.
His car struck a post on a bridge.
