Girard, of Ottawa. III. The demonstrators also carried placards accusing the United States of trying to "steal Okina wa" and planning to bring nuclear weapons to Japan. I There was some scuffling but I no major violence when police I dispersed the crowd. Five demonstrators were admit- , ted to the embassy, where they gave First Secretary Richard L. Sneider a petition demanding that: Girard, who killed a Japanese woman on a U.S. Army firing range in January in what he said was an accident, be tried in a native court. Nuclear weapons be banned in Japan, Okinawa and Korea. The demonstration was essen tially a protest against the U.S. district court ruling that Girard may not be tried by the Japanese.
