IltiRhitt ol Toledo wore honorec Saturday at a golden anniversar reception in the home of their so! and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs W. A. Hughitt. The Hughitts were married June 20, 1906 in Elma. Wash. They have five children, nine grand-children and six great-grandchildren, most ol who were among the friends and relatives who greeted them hero Saturday. They lived in Bend irom him to ltm. and from then until 1954 resided in Redmond where they operated a nursery and Krecnnouse. jne senior Hughitts are now managing an apartment house in Toledo. Mrs. Prank McDonald, Mrs. W. J. Newton, Mrs. Verda Eaton, Mrs. Fred Hpdreker and Mrs. b. W. Franks of Redmond, and Mrs. Bessie Fi'seh, Santa Cruz, Calif., poured the punch and coffee at the reception. Mrs. ;; A. Laird, Red mond, and Mrs. Robert Sutton, Portland, served cake. Covering the tea table was a cloth of gold thread which the elder Mrs. Hugh itt had crocheted for the occasion. Besides the host family, Mr.- and Mrs.' V.:a. Hughitt and sons Bill and Larry, were these relatives: Son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schnase of Chehalis. Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Hugh itt and daughter. Naval Hospital at Jacksonville, Fla. She is -the daughter of Mrs. Marie T. Mur phy of Adel, and was formerly medical records librarian at Sf. Charles Memorial hospital. Everyone is in vited to attend. ESA Chapter Vacation Time To Be Active i 1 Beta Alpha chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha met Monday night al the home of the president, Mrs Robert Gardner. Although this was the final meeting of the ciub year, plans were made for a bus summer. A regular schedule will be resumed in the fall. A picnic for members and guests was planned for the evening. 0 June 28. Camp Sherman To Have Exhibit Mrs. Ruth Moye of Bend has an nounced plans for an art exhibit to be held Wednesday, June 27, at the Camp Sherman community hall. Doors will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tea will be scived from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is cost 'roe, and the public is invited to attend. Ceramics will be exhibited by Mrs. Moye and by Mrs. Wanda King and Mi's. Bessie Waters, al so of Bend. Pat Winters and Mi's. MADRAS Dan Macy. chair man of the board of 'Madras grade school district 509-C, was reelec ted to a five-year term during ex tremely light voting at the annual meeting of the school district. Macy, Warm Springs grocery store operator, . was unopposed on the ballot. He drew 23 votes. The election took place at the annual meeting held Mondny. Members of the 509-C school board who have unexpired terms to serve are. Art Carlson, J. A. Macy, Louis Kinkadc, and Ken neth Harris. Commission OKs Vacation Plan For City Workers A plan for vacations for city em ployes was approved last night by the city commission. After a year's employment. workers will be given one week or five working days vncntion. After two years, two weeks. After Lri consecutive years, three weeks. The same will apply to police men. Firemen will be given three 24 hour shifts as vacation lime after one year, or a little more than n week; after two years, five -1 hour shifts and after lb years seven 21 hour shifts, the equiva lent of three weeks, Tcrminnl leave will be given to employes not dismissed for cause. This is payment fur vacations amed and not taken. Exceptions were granted two or three employes who were prom ised two weeks vacation after working one year before they took the jobs. DeArmond Sets Talk on Elkdom Spertd to Tho Bullrtin MADRAS New applicants and others interested in joining 1 in Madras lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, new in the process of formation, fere invited to a special meeting Fri day at 8 p.m. in the Madras com munity hall. The meanings and activities of Elkdom will be explained by visit ing Elks, according to Ted Moan, secretary. Speakers will include Harvey DeArmond, past exalted ruler of the Bend Elks lodge. LADIES OF EI.KS TO MEET Bend Ladies of Elks will hold their final meeting before the sum mer recess Thursday, June 28, al 8 p.m. in the dining room of the BPOfc. temple. The potluclt dinner tentatively scheduled for that night has been cancelled. Instead, the group will resume activities in the fall with a pollack dinner and si lent auction.
