It is hoped that the ex-Indian, who batted .395 last summer after joining the, team near the tailend of the season, will bo able to solve the second base problem this weekend against Medford. Holzman, who just graduated Irom Stanford last Sunday, was shifted to the outfield this spring where, he enjoyed a great season, batting well over .300. If another second baseman becomes avail able, he may be shifted to the out field here. Although bothered by a slight illness, he worked out with the Salem Senators earlier this week. The Loggers, who dropped two pre-season games to Medford by lop-sided scores, open Southern Oregon league play this weekend against the same Cheney Studs at Medford. There will be three games, Saturday afternoon, Satur day night, and again Sunday af ternoon. With two weeks practice under thejr beiis arid several new faces in the lineup, Bend is expected to field a much stronger team this time. The Loggers will be shoot ing for a three-game sweep, as all game,s count in the standings.
