on the scoring warpath the second
half as they came from behind to
scalp Central Oregon College 74
to 57 at Kenwood Tuesday.
The classy Washington team
passing and shooting with plenty of
poise and finesse, trailed most of
the first half and was behind
34-29 at intermission after a nip-

Yakima tallied six straight
points to open the second half and
take a 35-34 lead. The advantage

Then the Nitehawks hit a scoring
drouth and the Indians poured In

The two teams began trading
baskets again and Central Oregon

Offer is Made For Detroit
DETROIT (UP) Walter O.
"Spike" Briggs, president of the
Detroit Tigers, said today he con
sidered a reported "offer" of more
than two million dollars for his
ball club as an "inquiry" and
would not discuss it untd after;
the first of the year.
Briggs confirmed Tuesday night
a report that a six-man eastern
syndicate was "interested" in the
Detroit baseball team, a member
of the American League. But he
said he considered a letter re
ceived from the syndicate an in
quiry and not an offer.
The syndicate, headed by New
York insurance executive Cy Block
reportedly offered more than two
million dollars for the team. The
"offer" first was revealed by the
Long Island Press.
