Club to Give Public Party To Aid Fund ".The Mirror Pond Garden club Will hold a public card party, for benefit of the March of Dimes, Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 25, at the home of Mrs. Francis Stokesberry, 1601 E. January 21. 1955 Supervisor Sets Move to Prosser Special to The Bulletin REDMOND Gilbert Dyer, for the past four years supervisor of Farmei-s Home Administration of fice for the area, has received no tice of transfer to Prosser, Wash . from state F.II.A. director Kenneth W. Sawyer of Portland. The move will be an advancement for Dyer who will be handling a larger case load and will be doing some ap praising. He is also to have an as sistant in addition to his office staff. The confirmation of transfer was received by - Dyer Tuesday He says he plans to leave early in February with his fumily. An nouncement of his successor in the Redmond office will be made later Dyer was supervisor in the Mad ras office for a year prior to com ing to Redmond. He Is originally from llermislon, a graduute of Oregon Slate college in agiicultun economy, and before entering OSC served in the United Slates Ma lines. Dyer is moderator of the newly organized Redmond Bibli church and is on the board of Central Oregon Christian high school. He and Mrs. Dyer have two young children. The Redmond office serves Des chutes and Crook counties Board members for Deschutes are chair man Wayne llamby, Bend; Floyd Holt, Redmond; and Lee Putnam, Tumalo. Crook county chairman Louis M. Fischer and Joe Stahan ryk are from Princville. and Clif ford A. Dickson, Powell Butte is the third member of that board. Thursday, 8 p.m. in John Tuck school. Chosen by student council to represent them on the punel are Carmen Durfee who will talk about dims and organizations, Sue Swift who will discuss the newspaper and annual, and Sharon Rector whose topic is the drill team, band and rally squad. Plans Underway For Prayer Day Spri-inl In The Bulletin REDMOND The first planning meeting for this year's World Day of Prayer observance was held Tuesday at the home of Mrs. R I.. Watch. Chosen to be chairman is Mrs. C. A. I.oop of the Four Square church where the Redmond World Day of Prayer will Ik- held on February '. Mrs. II. II. Sohm is secretary-treasurer and publici ly chairman. Theme of the special day this year is "God's Supply For the World's Need". The program of special readings, scriptures, music and prayers will start at 2 p.m. February 25 in the host church. All persons of the area, whether church affiliated or not, are urged to keep this date in mind and plan to attend. In the planning group Tuesday were Mrs. D. I.. Penhollow, Mrs II. II. Akin, Portland, suspected of passing ul least 10 short checks within Des chutes county, waived preliminary hearing Thursday morning when arraigned in justice court here. He was bound over to the grand jury by Justice of the Peace Don ald L. Ellis. He is being held in county jail in lieu of $fi,00fl bail set by (he justice. Akin was arrested in Klamath Falls Tuesday and returned to Des chutes county Wednesday by Sher iff F. C. Slides and Stale Patrol mini Albert C. Gassner. His arrest was made by Klam ath Falls police on a warrant from Multnomah county, but he will fuci prosecution in the local circuit court on a complaint issued (hmuK, u, (wiiiiond justice colli ! Akin is charged with obtaining money and properly under false pretenses. Total um wnt of short checks he is suspected of passing is not specified in the complaint. Vacancy Exists On Police Force Applications for patrolman to fill a vacancy on the Bend police de- uarlmcnt are still being 'accepted, according to Chief John T. Truelt. Qualifications for an applicant include that he be between the iges of 21 and 35, at least a one- year resident of Bend and a high school graduate. Applications must be submitted in writing, the chief advised. Starting salary for patrolman is $1)11.65, with raises scheduled after the first six months of duty and at Ihe end of the first year. Top salary of a patrolman under Ihe current pay schedule is $H:"i0.2). Oscar Murray, local contractor, flew to Portland in his Cessna 180 to pick up three passengers. The Bend Squadron CAP was vis ited by Syt. Hopkins, USAF, who is in Central Oregon in connection with Ground Observers Corps.
