WHEREAS tha City Commission of
th City of Bend, duly constituted and

ary to remove the present bridge, known
as the Portland Avenue Bridge across the
Deechotea River within the corporate
lupiu of the City of Bend, and replace
It with a concrete and steel bridge, and
WHEREAS, the said City Commission
finds it necessary to finance the said re
moval and replacement of the said bridge

Bend adopted by toe voters at an elec
tion held October 16, 1828, as subse
quently amended:

that tha charter of the City of Bend
adopted by the voters at an election held
October 16. 1928, as amended, be and
the same is hereby amended by adding
thereto Chapter XIII to read as fol
lows:
Section 1. The City Commisaton of the
City of Bend Is authorized to remove
the nresent bridge, known as the Port
land Avenue Bridge across the Deschutes
River within the corporate limits of the
City of Bend, and replsce.it with a con
crete and steel bridge, and to provide
uch approaches and other appurtenan
ces and facilities as are necessary and
convenient in connection therewith and
to further acquire any necessary real
property, easements and rights-of-way
tor tne ssia project.
Section 2. In order to provide funds with
which to remove the nresent brida-e.
known as the Portland Avenue Bridge
serous the Deschutes River within the
corporate limits of the City of Bend
and replsce it with a concrete and steel
bridge, and to provide such approaches

are necessary and convenient in connec
tion therewith and to further acquire

being a newspaper published in the City
of Bend, once, more than ten (10) days
before said election, and also by publi
cation thereof once in said newspaper
within the ten (10) days Immediately
preceding said special election ; and it is

WHEREAS It Is necessary for the
peace, health snd safety of the City that
the improvements for which the afore
said bonds are to ne issued ne mint ana
constructed at as early a date as possi
ble, NOW. THEREFORE,
AN EMERGENCY is hereby declared
to exist and this resolution shall go into
force and effect upon its adoption and
approval.
