Tu ES A Chapter Pledges Three In Ceremony Beta Alpha chapter of Epailon Sigma Alpha sorority held a plodding ceremony for three new members, at a coffee hour Oct. 7 at the home of Mrs. Robert Lin coln. The neophytes are Miss Jo hannc Loehr, Miss Mary Agnes MeGlnnls and Mrs. Wesley Huber. In conjunction with the pledg ing ceremony, a jewel pin cere mony was held for five members of Alpha Omicron chapter, sister chapter of Beta Alpha. Pins were presented to Mrs. Douglas Day, Miss Margaret Hencz, Miss Betty Bonsell, Miss Janice Jappert.and Miss Donna Rhodes. . Mrs. W. L. Sholes, president of. Beta Alpha chapter, conducted the ceremonies, assisted by Miss Joan Logan, vice-president. After the ritual, Mrs. Lincoln entertained with a group of piano Humours. . ., " Refreshments were served from . n table attractively decorated with roses and candelabra. A large cake was decorated in blue and gold, the sorority colors, and In scribed with the letters, "ESA." Amaranth Order Holds Dinner, Friendship Night Members of Order of the Ama ranth, some 100 strong, attended a friendship meeting held by Mir ror Court No. 24 Saturday night at the Masonic temple. The meet ing was preceded by a no-host dinner. Delegations from several Ama ranth courts in various parts of the state attended, and initiation work was exemplified by officers of Mirror court. Highlight of the occasion was the official visit of Winifred Dyer of Cannon Beach, grand royal ma tron, and Francis R. Henkle of Gresham, grand royal patron. Also present at the meeting were past supreme officers, Fran ces E. Ostrom and Frank ,W. Sco- . bert; and deputy supreme officers Pearl V. Scobert and Eart S. Bee-son.- .'.V. Grand court officers were pres ent from Portland, Eugene, Can non Beach, Oswego and Klamath Falls. After the meeting, refresh ments were served by the Bend . group. Square Dancers To Start Season 'The popular square dances at Pine Forest grange hall which have been a feature of the. win ter program for the past several years will be resumed tomorrow night at 8:30. Music will be by the Compoppers with Claude Cook acting as master of cere monies. The first three or four weekly" sessions will be in the nature of reresher programs designed to enable those who have not danced for a year or two to get back Into the swine. This Wednesday night group Is made of Intermediate sauare dances. All those who have had beginning square dance Instruction are also Invited to at tend. ' Recreation, friendliness and tol erance are to be the keynotes of " the year s dancing, Cook said. Ragles auxiliary will hold Ini tiation at the regular meeting Wednesday, Oct.- 22, at 8 p. m. -at the Eagles hall. Ballot Measures To Be Discussed A non-partisan discussion of measures which appear on the November ballot will be held Mon day, Oct. 27, at 7:30 p. m. in the Fireside room of the Methodist church, it was announced today. t ne meeting will be open to all women who wish to hear the measures explained. Mrs. Claude V. Winterscheld will lead the dis cussion, assisted by Mrs. Don Mlciiam. The meeting is sponsored by the Methodist Woman's Society of Christian Service. Officers of the group suggested that those who attend take their voters' pamph lets to the meeting for reference.
