Lonergan's court heard testimony from the mother of the young woman accused of murdering her three-year-old daughter. Mrs. Dorothea Sing testified that her daughter had taken good care of her two children though "to my estimation she was some times a little too severe with them." Her testimony was followed by that of her husband, Eugene Sing, who also recounted his move ments on the day Sherrle Ellen died. May Admit Recordings The state has contended that the only eyewitness of what it claims was the murder of Sherrie Ellen Is her four-year-old sister, Vickie. - Judge Lonergan denied the slate permission to describe a conversation between Vickie and her mother and he said he would rule later on whether tape recordings of the conversation may be admitted as evidence. He also snld he has not decided fin ally whether Vickie will be ruled competent to testily as a witness. "The after effects on this little child's life would be simply ter rible . . . ," he said.
