Melichar of the SS Gull Bank er agrees with her, and so do the men she works with. - The captain praised Sparky and said "she's a darn good operator and attends to her work." Oth er ships' masters agree with him. The radiowoman carries letters of recommendation from all the ships she has sailed on, praising her work and emphasizing her high moral character. Officers and men of the SS Gulf Banker say "Sparky is just like a sister." They report that she Is treated like the men, and because she is a woman does not make for extra politeness, such as having some one hold her chair or open doors for her. "That's the way it shduld be," said Sparky, "for I am just one of the crew." She has been aboard the SS Gulf- Banker a year. The merchant marine beauty gives her age as "under 30" and said (he last thing she wants to do Is trap a man.
