In Light Demand
New York, May 21 IP Stocks
marked time today in one of the
slowest Saturday sessions since
late last year. It also was the fi
nal Saturday trading of the sum
mer. The New York stock ec
change next week begins its sum
mer schedule, which omits tne
two-hour Saturday session.
The summer program will con
tinue for the next 18 weeks, with
the short session being resumed
next Oct. 1. All other security
and commodity markets also will
oegui their summer sessions next
week, with the exception of the
Chicago board of trade, which
will operate as usual.
A great number of Wall Street
regulars, however, started the
practice of long week ends today
and attendance in the street was
negligible, illustrated by the de
cline in activity.
Gains and losses in the main
list of stocks were small with a
number of issues holding un
changed from their previous clos
ing levels.
