After the ceremony, a reception for over. 50 guests was held in the church parlors. Mrs. Harold Ha- gen cut the wedding cake, Mrs. Leonard DeWitt poured the cof fee and Mrs. t.-a. Majors presid ed at the punch bowl. Assisting with the serving were Mrs. Olaf Sk.iersaa, Mrs. Gunnar Bjorvik and Mrs. Oscar Osmundson. Mrs. Glen Millard had charge of the guest book. ' . The bride's mother wore a cacoa-colored dress with brown accessories, and the bridegroom's mother was dressed in grey. Both had corsages of pink roses. For the wedding trip to Califor nia, the bride wore a grey suit striped with pink, a pink blouse and grey accessories. Her corsage was the orchid from her wedding bouquet. The couple will make their home on Harrlman avenue. The bride, a Bend high school graduate, is a teller at the U. S. National bank. McMillan was a member of Bend's original com pany I, and served four years in the army in world war II. He is employed by the Bend-Portland truck company. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joe McMillan, of Blakley Heights. Party Is Given For Miss Miller Mrs. William E. Naylor was hostess last Thursday evening at a bridal shower honoring Miss Eunice Miller, whose marriage to George Wright, of Port Orchard, Wash., is planned for early next soring. Both Miss Miller and her fiance are students at the Uni versity of Oregon. ' Bridge was the diversion for the evening, -followed by presenta-' Hon of shower gifts. Mrs. Ted sa ther held high score' in the card game. Others at the party included the following: Mrs. Don Williams, mother of the bride-elect; Mrs. Ed McKrill. Mrs. Gail Baker. Nile Club Dance To Attract Many The semi-formal dance 'to be held Suturday night, Sept. 5, in the Pilot Butte inn Blue room, ranmlnDQ in hp n fillPPPSA both SO dally and financially, according to Mrs. -J. A. uuarey, Kenereii chairman. The affair is planned as a benefit for the Shriners' hos- Dltal for crippled children, in Portland, and demand for tickets is said to be brisk. The party is one of the first "dress-up" functions of the fall season, and many are looking for ward to the affair. Dancing will be from 9:30 p. m. to 12:30 a. m., with music by Ernie Traxler's orchestra. Members of the Bend club of Daughters of the Nile are the sponsoring group. Women of lh-a Moose are plan ning a series of three public card parties, the first to be held Friday at 8 p.m. in Moose hall. Publicity, library and Mooscheart commit tees of the lodge are in charge of nrrnnapments. and each member of these groups was asked to bring an apple pie, as a conmnu tion for the refreshments. Republicans To Hear Talks By Candidates ; Plans have been completed for a republican "candidates' day," to feature a noon luncheon meeting Friday at the Pilot Butte Inn, with a number of candidates scheduled to speak. Both men and women who are active In the party will be expected to attend, according to Mrs. E. R. Ryan, president of the Bend unit of the National Federa tion of Republican Women. Reser vations should be made immedi ately with Mrs. Ryan, phone 1043-M, or Mrs. E. W. Williamson, 8G6-W. The luncheon will be serv ed at 12 noon sharp, t was an nounced. ' Among the speakers will be Harry S. Dorman, of Portland, who is managing Senator Douglas McKay's gubernatorial campaign, and Senator Howard C. Belton, of canby, who Is running for the of fice of state treasurer. Attorney general George Neuner, of Salem, who seeks re-election, will be rep resented by his assistant, Cather ine Carson BarsCh. Other republican candidates for state offices who are expected to speak are Phil Hitchcock, who is running for the office of state sen ator from Crook, Klamath, Des chutes, Lake and Jefferson coun ties; J. F. Short, who seeks elec tion as joint Deschutes and Lake county representative to the state legislature, and William Niskan- en, who seeks re-election as Des chutes county representative. ueorge wmslow, republican can didate for county coroner, has also been asked to speak. . Shower Is Given At Grange Hall Mr. and Mrs. Sam Henry, who were married recently, were hon ored at a party Friday evening at tne Fine Forest grange hall. Nine ty people were present at the af fair, which was climaxed by the presentation of shower gifts to the young couple. Mrs. Henry was formerly Kathleen ives. Entertainment for the evening included dancing, pinochle and games for the children. Ernie Traxler's orchestra provided the music, in the card games, Mrs. P. F. Riedel and Roy Van Vleet won high scores, and Mrs. R. c. Colver and L. V. Gless were sec ond high. At the close of the eve ning, refreshments were served by the social committee of the grange. - . V.F.W. auxiliary will meet to morrow at 8 p.m. at Veterans hall. for initiation of candidates, Plans will be made for the meeting of district No. 14, to be held Septenv ber 24 in Bend. A social hour will follow, with all members whose birthdays or anniversaries occur in September to be honored. All members were urged to attend, Mrs. Morley-Madden and Mrs, Darrell Gibson will be on the host ess committee. A sewing meeting has been called ' for Thursday starting at 10 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Madden, 753 East- fightn. Members were asked to bring thimbles, scissors and embroidery hoops, to work on articles for the November bazaar. A potluck luncheon will be served at noon. . Bend Garden club will meet Fri day at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Edgar Smith, 545 Federal. Mrs. Stella Nelson, as program chair man, will 'demonstrate arrange-, ment.of flowers in the Japanese style. Members were asked to bring massed arrangements to be judged for points. , MEETING IS HELD Mrs. C. L. Hlnman entertained the In-As-Much club of First Christian church last Thursday. The date was incorrectly announced last week. Mrs. W. J.
