Local Couple Is Slafed For Honor Mr. and M"s-, T- G- Kribs, long time residents of Bend who live at 1303 Newport avenue, are receiv ing congratulations on their fifti eth wedding anniversary, which will be celebrated Monday, Au gust 25, with an open house in the social room of the First Christian church, from 2 to 9 p. m. Mrs. Kribs, who was Sophie Bankofier before her marriage, was born in California January 3C, 1879, and lived in that state until she became a bride. Her hus band was born in Wisconsin March 5, 1870. " The couple were married in Marysville, California, August 25, 1S97, and the same year they moved to Oregon. They settled in , Burns, where they made their home until 1918, when they came to Bend. They have seven sons and one daughter, and there are also 15 grandchildren and one' great granddaughter. - Relatives of the golden-weds, who are in charge of plans for the open house, have issued a gen eral invitation to the affair, and stressed that all friends of the couple will be welcome to attend. Coopers Honored At Social Affair Redmond, Aug. 21 (Special) Mr. and Mrs. James Short were hosts Tuesday evening at Mile away, their new home ' west of Redmond, at a farewell party hon oring Mr. and Mrs. Forest Cooper, who left this week for Roseburg. Cooper, an engineer with the state highway department, had been stationed in Redmond for the past seven years. He was transfer red to the Roseburg office on a temporary assignment. Host group, for the party Tues day was the' Redmond civil air patrol organization, of which Cooper was a member. A. F. Parsons, of Salem, has been apDointcd temporary resi dent engineer for Redmond. Plans wore made for an all-day cuting next Wednesday, and after the meeting, puffed rice balls were served. t TEfeN-AGEHS TO DANCE Another in the summer series of dances for teenagers will be held Friday evening in the Elks hall, a committee in charge has announced. Dancing will be from 8:30 to 11:30 p. m. All high school students and their teen-age friends from Bend, Redmond and Prine ville were invited to attend. Bride-Elect Is Feted At Pre-Nuptial Shower Miss Konnie Van Allen, bride elect of Kay Thompson, was hon ored at a bridal shower for which Miss Elizabeth May and Miss Eunice Miller were co-hostesses Tuesday evening at the home of the former. Women's Golf Tourney Slated Qualifying rounds in the La dies Golf club annual fall tourna ment will start Friday at the Bend golf course and will continue for one week. Mrs. Farley Elliott, tournament chairman, announced today. ' . Women in the "B" and "C" classifications will qualify with lS-holo matches. A fifty cent fee will be charged for each entrant in the tournament. A special putting tournament will also be held on Friday. J: Connolly entertained a group of the visitors' friends and relatives at an informal gath ering Saturday afternoon at her home at 1415 West Ninth street. Others present were Mrs. Ben Hamilton, Mrs. Lee Reinhart, Mrs. Wayne Hamilton and son, Benny, Mrs. Roland Reinhart and son, Kenneth, and None Ross. Mrs. Schaefer is the daughter cf Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hamilton, of 515 Kansas avenue, at whose home she and Susan have been visiting this summer. They plan to return to Hawaii soon by plane.- Clrclo One members, Catholic Altar society, svill sponsor a rum mage sale in the St. Francis school building Saturday, Aug. 23, and Monday, August 25. The sale will start at 2 p. m., and will last about three hours, it was predicted. Charley Smith, Redmond auctioneer, will be in charge. Soroptimist Club Plans Meeting For Next Week Plans tor entertaining a dele gation of Soroptimist club mem bers from Klamath Falls were made at a regular dinner meeting of the local group, last night at the Pilot Butte inn. Twenty mem bers of the club attended, with Mrs. Almeda Hoist, president, in charge. The joint meeting with the Kla math Falls group will be a dinner party next Wednesday at 7 p. m., in the Pilot Butte inn blue room.
