Mofmots Wag Their Tails

birds, the rare motmots are on
exhibit at the zoo here. The birds
were flown from Costa Rica.
The motmot also Is known as
the "Jungle barber" from the le
gend that It (rims Its tall to two
feathers. Many eminent authori
ties have verified thli' story, zoo
officials say.
"Jungle clocks" Is another nick
name they have been given be
cause they wag their tails back
and forth, like the pendulum of
a clock.
Among the most brllllantly-col-ored
of all tropical birds, the
motmots have olive green bodies,
turquoise eyebrows and their ex
tremely long tails are bright blue.

On-the-sput settlement ot seventy
five cents was made to Gilbert
Rogers, 14, whose bicycle was
struck down on a Los Angeies
street by an unidentified woman
motorist. According to Gilbert,
the woman got out to survey the
aamugc. then banded him the
money, saying "Go take care of
yourself," and then drove off. Gil
bert was treated for a broken arm,
multiple cuts and bruises.
