Church Row Recalled
After 100 Years
Mrrldon, Conn, tun When the
Baptists started to build their
church next door to one already
owned by the Congregational So
ciety In 1847. the latter group
sought to prevent it by an Injunc
tion. They agreed the Baptists them
selves were not objectionable but
that their pastor, the Rev. Mr.
Miller, had a "peculiarly sharp
ringing voice" which It was feared
might disturb the Congregational
meetings. Nevertheless, the Bap
tist church was built.
