Los Angeles, March 21 HI'i Boxing promoter Joe Lynch to duy revealed he is negotiating for a Harold Dade-Manuel Ortiz ban tamweight title rematch to re place a postponed Ike Williams John Thomas lightweight title bout. The Williams-Thomas fight was postponed Indefinitely last night because title-holder Williams re fused to sign a contract, explain ing that he has a hand injury. The bout was scheduled May 28 at Gllmore field. Lynch said he has offered Or tiz the champion's 3TA per cent as his share for the fight, and that Dade is holding put for 20 per cent Instead of the' challen ger's normal 12V4. OF PORTLAND DIPOSIT INIURANC1 iTrout Egg Take Starts In State The Oregon Slate Game com mission fishery crews are engag ed in spawning operations in dif ferent sections of the state to ob tain trout eggs for the coming season' production, according to information recently received by Bend sportsmen. ' A crew of eight men will leave April 1 for Diamond lake via Sno cat from Union creek near Med ford to take rainbow trout eggs at that lake. Rainbow trout eggs, likewise will be taken a Spencer creek In Klamath county and Crane prairie in Deschutes coun ty. Spawning of the cutthroat brood stock at the Alsea hatch ery is just about finished with a total yield of 2,500,000 eggs. Cut throat eggs also are being taken at the Cedar creek hatchery at Hebo. It is the plan of the Com mission to raise cutthroat brook stock at all coastal hatcheries to insure a supply of eggs of this species, which is In demand for stocking coastal waters. Collection of steelhcad eggs has been started at the falls on Smith river near Gardiner. Fish are dipped below the falls, the ripe ones being held in live boxes above the falls and the green ones al lowed to go upstream to spawn naturally. The steelhead egg tak en has also been started at the Alsea hatchery. Young Lava Bears I Go To Portland I A Bend high school basketball team, under the sponsorship of the Bend Kiwanis club, left this morning for Portland where it will participate in the 13th annual Golden Ball tournament now in progress. The Bend team will play St. John's this evening. I Teams entered in the tourna ment may include no varsity bas ketball players and all boys must be under 19 years of age. Carson today said the future development of the Pacific coast is dependent upon an "adequate" merchant ma rine. Carson, mayor of Portland, Ore., from 1933 to 1941. was re cently appointed to the commis sion by President Truman. "This country now has the op portunity of realizing her ambi tions to have a strong, vital mer chant marine," he said.
