Decline of Stocks
n Market Noted
By T. W. Kienlen
(United I'rwj staff Correspondent)
New York, May 23 IIB Stocks
clined to more than a point in
he main list today in slightly
Jiiore active trading.
Wall street analysts attributed
he sell-off largely to technical
casons, pointing out that a re
fection has been overdue after the
recent exienaeu penoa 01 rising
fci lces. That it came today, these
t manors inaicaiea, was pnncipai
v because of yesterday's action
fcv Rep. Uearnart, K., Cal., in in-
(troducing a bill to' permit a 30 per
ent wage increase and some 'un
certainty created by the govern
went crisis in England.
Business and industrial news
jJfnerally was favorable. Bigger
dividends were voted by directors
f United Merchants and Manu
facturers and Zonite products and
5the board of the Chesapeake and
JOhio voted a special distribution
of shares of Pittston company
'Sield by the road to holders of
3fc and O common. Edison Electric
Institute reported a sharp re
wound in electricity production
J;ist week, the first full week since
'iimout and curfew restrictions
vjiave been lifted.
