New York, April 6 (IP) Stocks
developed a firm tone in the late
trading today after early irregu
Mrity. Volume lightened com
pared with yesterday's total. .
All major groups registered a
technical recovery following the
recent setback. Gains ranging tp
rfi'ore than a point were spread
over a broad area". The individual
volume generally was small and
with no outstanding feature in
activity. .
.Railroad issues made the best
fup showing. Gains of a point
more were noted in Atlantic
st Line, Southern Pacific, and
ckel Plate preferred. Rail
equipments steadied alter early
recessions.
..Steels moved higher under the
leadership of U. S. Steel. Coppers
gained a trifle to a point, the lat
ter in Kennecot. Oils strengthened
with Superior Oil of California up
more than three points. Du Pont
snares gained iracuonauy.
