York stock exchange today with
volume light
Most of the railroad issues rev.
istered fair-sized gains although

firmed, utilities held firm. .
Numerous issues made new
highs for the year or longer, in-
eluding Hudson Motors, and is
sues of Fere Marquette, Nickel
Plate, and Western Pacific. Util
ities moved narrowly in the com
mon stocks while preferred reg
istered wide gains in several in
stances.
Airlines firmed under the lead
ership of American which gained
nearly a point, standard brands
rose a point in its section. Best
rose more than a point in the
mercantiles. Tires were up small
amounts. .
Activity centered on special
stocks, including Missouri Kansas
Texas railway, International Tel
ephone, Commonwealth and Sou
thern, and Packard.
Farm shares, mercantile issues.
and chemicals were narrow-mov
ing, urumman was strong in its
department.

National Park 'Buffalo
To Start Tapering Off

soon will have to stop eating off
the government.
In a reoprt submitted to Ickes
by the national park service. Di
rector Newton B. Drury said his
plans were to "taper off feeding
hay to these animals and place
thorn entirely on their.; own re-;
sources." ."
The report also revealed that
the nation's parks had a total of
more than seven million visitors
during the past fiscal year, two
million of them service men and
women.

Commission of the City of Bend,
Oregon, on March 21, 1945, duly
adopted a resolution of intention
to vacate the following streets
within said city, to-wit;,
That portion of- East Railroad'
Street lying east of the east line of
East Third Street and north of the
north line of East Clay Avenue
extended; that portion of East
Railroad Street lying between the
south line of East Clay Avenue
extended and the west line of East
Fourth Street; and north ten (10)
feet and south ten (10) feet of
that portion of East Burnside Ave
nue lying west of the west line of
East Fourth Street; all in the plat
of Keystone Terrace;
And that May 2, 1945, at eight
o'clock p. m. at the commission
chambers at the city hall in Bend,
