New York, June 21 iipi Stocks

reported naval battle In the Pa

sion trading continued to dwindle
from the active pace of the previ

At the opening of dealings,
liquor shares developed firmness
reflecting an overnight announce

production for the month of Aug
use of beverage alcohoL Profit

rarily but the advance was re
sumed before the close.
Late gains in the liquors ranged
to more than a point In American
Instilling. Distillers cor p.-Seagram's

Tilford inc., selling for cash,
dropped 8 points to a new low
for the year on action by the
Pennsylvania state liquor author

General Rain Aids
Road Maintenance
Ten days of rain, which in the
Bend area alone amounted to
more than two inches, finds Coun
ty Roadmaster George H. McAl
lister and his crew hard and
happily at work in the north end
of the county.
Taking advantage of the damp
ened roads, two maintenance
machines are operating near Red
mond and the third in the Clover
dale sector. McAllister said today
that the present work will con
tinue through next week when he
and his men will move to Sisters
to do much-needed repair work on
the town's streets.
