When renovation is com pleted, Carl A. Johnson, council chairman, predicted that the Bend building, serving as a "home away from home" for service men, will be outstanding in the northwest. Despite the fact that the Bend USO setup is still temporary, everything Is going along nicely, It was reported at the meeting. Much of the credit for the pres ent smooth operation of the USO In Bend was given by Robert L. Titus, field director, to Mrs. W. C. Coyner, senior hostess chairman, and Mrs. Chris Kostol, in charge of the junior hostesses, and their assistants. Mrs. Coyner reported 194 women registered for senior hostess activities. Seventy-eight local girls are working with Mrs. Kostol. Bend People Respond Titus declared that in no .town in the west have people respond ed so willingly to the USO plea for aid, in their effort to be of service to the men stationed at Camp Abbot and other midstate military centers. It was announced at last night's meeting that Boy Scouts of Bend are cooperating with the USO, by providing courier service. City Irrigation Rules Stressed City irrigation regulations were called to the attention of Bend water users today by Percy Drost, city water superintendent.
