Aug. 21 lui Th American army rangers who par ticipated In the raid on Dieppe will help train other American forces both In Britain and In this coun try for bigger missions to come. The rangers who participated In the raid were headed by Brig. Gen. ! I,. K. Truseott, Jr., who Is on the staff of Commando Chief Ird Louis Mnuntbatten's staff. They went along to get experience and training -In this type of warfare, Undersecretary of War Robert P. Patterson explained at a press con ference today, and their experi ence now will be put to use In training others. Patterson has Indicated that the training given at Helena, Mont to the first special service force, commanded by Colonel Robert T. Frederick, would he similar to the training of the rangers. Democrats Name John J. Bennett New York, Aug. 21 ne Attor-1 ney General John J. Bennett was 1 nominated as the democratic can-; aiaate ior governor ol New York Thursday, defeating Sen. James M. Mead, who had been sponsored by President Roosevelt. The final unofficial vote was 622 1 for Bennett and 394 for Mead. I Bennett, the candidate of former Democratic National Chairman James A. Farley, probably will op pose Thomas E. Dewey in Novem-1 ber. Dewey virtually is assured of the republican nomination next week. He ran for the governor ship four years ago but was de feated by Gov.
