Sun Francisco, Nov. 21 un -It's been a poor season, all thing con sidered, for the Trojans of Uni versity of Southern California, but all will bo forgiven and Hie Pa rifle Const conference will get a tremendous boost If the Trojans cun upset Notre laimc in South Ilcnd tomorrow. So lur the conference has sent Its teams Into two major intersec tional gumes, and each time the conference club emerged second best. Ohio Stale massacred the Trojnn early In the year and on opening day Minnesota trimmed Washington by a touchdown. So conference prestige need a shot in the arm. The schedule for the waning football season offers conference teams five more chances, of which the IJSCNntre Dnme combat is the most Immi-diate. The other I comes iJecemlx-r 6 when Texas Aggies meet Washington State In Tacoma and Oregon meet Texas , at Austin: Dec. 20, when UCLA tukes on Florida at Jacksonville; and Dec. 27 when California faces Georgia at Berkeley. : The chances are 2 to 1 against the Trojan dumping the Irish but the history of the set lea is dolled' with such upsets. ! The Rose Bowl race may be) narrowed tomorrow when Wash-. Inutnn meets Orepon in Seattle. Washington can tie Oregon State . 'and Stanford for the conference I lead by beating the Webfools. But I word from the northwest says it i Isn't going to be an easy thing to j i do. as Oregon, rested two week, lis in better shape than at any time since Oct. 15. Oregon State meets Montana In a game that will have no effect on the race If Oregon Stale wins but which will harm Ihe Orangemen's prestige beyond recall if they lose. Washington State draws Its first easy breath in weeks against Gon zaga at Spokane. UCLA goes out against a Santa Clara team which In the last two pames has shown surprising power. California and Stanford are idle, resting for their annual struggle Nov. 29. Outside Ihe conference Univer sity of San Francisco and San Jose, both high scoring units, promise lots of action In San Fran cisco's Kc7.ar stadium. Loyola of Ihe Independents Journeyed to Al buquerque, N. M.. to meet New Mexico. St. Mary's went all the way to New York to play Ford ham. Pacific Lutheran, unbeaten in 18 starts, goes after Its 19th to night against Portland at Tacoma, and off a belated revival Portland has a chance to stop Tommy Tom meivik and his lutes.
