I Is Claim I t By Honald Ci. Van Tine iUhUmI l'rMt SUil CurraniK.niJrnt t "Wshintiton, Nov. 21 'U't Senate Mumi ity Leader Charles U McNary, W., Ore., proposed a three-point farm program today with which, he said, te republican party could win west ern states and elect a president in 140. J "After considerable thought,' he wiid in an interview, 'I have arrived nt theconclusion thnt the republican party can be successful if it demon strates to the farm voters and those impendent on tne fanners that the party is interested, as formerly, in tfccir-welfare." McNary recommended that the flowing program be written into the party's 1940 platform in "simple lan guage so that all can understand": -Equalization of benefit payments iJJJder the AAA soil conservation pro gram. 2, Repeal of the reciprocal trade Agreement act. 3. Liberalization of the public land fiolicy to give the 14 public land , siates a greater share of revenues from sales of forests and grazing on fne public domain. "In my opinion," McNary said, the Barty must support a practicable plan severing soil conservation with bene fit payments justifying the continua ftbn of that practice. All benefits and privileges must accrue alike to all producers irrespective of crops pro duced. High Cream Quality Aim of New Official Redmond, Nov. 21 Increasing the quality of cream produced will be the main objective of the work of the rtate department of agriculture in this district for the next few weeks, according to C E. Hutehcns, recently appointed district 'representative for Crook, Deschutes Jctferson, and Wheeler counties, with headquarters at Redmond. Hutehcns, who succeeds E. L. S track, transferred to western Ore gon, said that the question of im provement of cream is one of the major problems confronting the de partment at the present time. Recent action of the department of agricul ture in stepping up the requirements for butter grading means that Ore gon, in order not to lose her butter market, must step up the production of premium cream. Production of butter which will grade 92, as re quired for export, requires premium cream. Hutchens said he will devote most of his time in the next few weeks to ; work with creameries and producers ; to improve production in this district, j Several factors enter into the produc- tion of good cream, he said. Handling is very important, as any impurities in utensils, either separators, milk-) ing machines or any utensil used, means bad flavor in the . product. Feed of the cows is also very im portant in the mutter of flavor. A premium cream must be smooth, odorless, and pleasant to the taste. . The aim of the department is to j improve quality of Oregon cream so that 90 per cent cream will be pro duced, Hutchens said. Anyone wishing to get in touch with Hutchens can do so through the office of County Agent G. Y. Hagg- i lund in Redmond. Tumalo GETS EXPERT CARE Pasadena, Cal.
