MILK INSPECTION AND BAFBTY Meat inspection as a deterrent to cattle rustlers, as well as a health measure was advocated in this col umn yesterday. Today another tort of inspection is suggested that of milk and dairies. We haven't any idea that lack oi inspection is going to induce unscrup ulous persons to steal milk and de liver it in Bend, but there is one close analogy between the meat Inspection question ratted Friday, and the dairy and milk inspection question raise., today. That is the public health. Of course, there is an inspection a very thorough one, tco. when it W made but it is all too infrequent. It comes once or possibly twice a year when representatives of the state, dairy and food commissioner's office vlbit Central Oregon on their tour of the state in search of evidence o violations of the statute. Usually Ihey get some evidence. We lost our jobs, we gladsome gents, who'd, blown our wages in, and now we eouldn't pay the rents, or fill the yawning bin. I journeyed to my ancle's lair three times a week or so. and tried to soak the jinn racks there for which I'd spent my dough. And there I'd meet the gilded jays with whom I used to train, and they all wept o'er spend thrift days, and shed their tears in vain.
