Pacific has under consideration n
plan to build nil extension of tho V. P.
to Zion national park and Cedar
Itreuks, the wonderland of Utah.

section, because of the lurk of eusy
transportation.
While President Gray would not
' commit himself, he returned from an
outing and inspection of this section
of southern Utah recently and let It
be known that the Union Pacific,
which obtained control of tho Suit
Lake Route recently. Is considering a
branch lino into the district.

Stirring Scene Witnessed At The
Dalles By Tourist Bride
Rescues Garage Man.
THE DALLES. July 21. A man
chained and handcuffed to a concrete
"traffic copf' on a downtown street
Corner on a" recent evening, revealed
. to the eastern tourists driving
through town that the west is still
wild, even as they had learned from
the movies. Undoubtedly he was a
horse thief or train robber, held there
while the lynching party was being
organized.
Had they tarried for a few mo
ments, however, the tourists would
have seen the apparent executions
fall back while a meek looking little
woman drove up In a taxi, bopped out
and unlocked the prisoner.
It was all a plot on the part of
employes of a local garage to punish
James B. "Jlmmle" Sharp, salesman
at the garage, for getting married.
Sharp was overpowered, and hand
cuffs loaned by a policeman "in" on
the plan were snapped on his wrists.
Sharp was then chained to the con
crete traffic marker and a sign read
ing "just married" fastened to his
back. After two hours of punish
ment, the key to the handcuffs was
sent to the new Mrs. Sharp with the
admonition that if she wanted a hus
band, she had better come ami get
him.
