Redmond will open her new pub lic camp ground on June 1, and is proclaiming to the world that she has one of the finest camp grounds for a town of her size in the s.tnto. It is electric lighted, fitted with run ning water, and has a community house containing range and all neces sary furniture. Free wood Is also furnished, and it is situated on Tho Dalles-California and McKeniie highways, two blocks from tho cen ter of town. The grounds are to be seeded and planted to flowers and shrubbery. A caretaker will be on the job at all times to give informa tion and look after the comfort of the travelers, according to tho Spokesman. A charge is to be made for accommodations. Burns has a novel camp ground in that shade is provided by a high board fence which entirely surrounds the camp, according to M. L. Wil liams, who is one of a party from Weed, Cal., now visiting Bend's camp. The Burns camp is arranged In a series of stalls around the In side of the wall. Wood and water are provided, and the Burns people are planning to install a swimming pool. Other members of tho party are J. L. Williams, Joseph Williams. Mary, Willie and Da Pauline Williams. BEND YOUTH RECORDS UNUSUAL EXPANSION What is believed to be a chest ex pansion record for a boy of his age in this part of the state, was made by Frank Haner, son of County Clerk J. H. Haner. when he took his phy sical examination for entrance to the summer army training camp at American Lake. Young Haner had a seven inch expansion, from a min imum of 32 to a maximum of 39. his father stated this morning. Another son, Ralph, will take the four weeks anny training at Camp Lewis.
