Manufacture of brick will be start ed again in June at the riant of the Bend Brick Company, went of Bend. L. B. Baird. bead of the company announces. The payroll of last year, totaling $35,000, will be met and quite probably passed, Mr. Baird states, tie expects a better build ing season than was enjoyed last year, and believes that the propor tionate demand for brick will be greater. A number of Improvements in method of manufacture are con templated for the coming season at the brickyard, but these had not been carefully enough worked out so that they could be announced, Mr. Baird aid. Approximately a million brick are now on hand at the yards, an amount amply sufficient to take care of all spring construction, and the same policy of burning more than enough for the summer's needs will be fol lowed this season, allowing a surplus fur the next spring. Mr. Baird Is now working on de tails of brick silo construction, which he expects to Introduce in Central Oregon in the near future. He Is Anthony H. G. Fokker, of Amsterdam, Holland, the Inven tor of the famous Fokker plane which Germany used In the World War. Fokker is here to study com mercial possibilities of the airplane in the I'nited States. It Is rumored he will make tests for the navy de partment.
