r PAQR 8 THE BEND BULLETIN, DAILY EDITION, BEND, OREGON. BATVIUMY, Al'fll'HT 81, 101)0. The days of Persecution, Prosecution, Investigation, Incrimination, Profiteering, Cheap Politics and Ex travagant Wastage are drawing to a close. They are" getting right down to common sense. "Bunk" doesn't go with most people any morethey want reason and ordinary horse sense to lead themthe "razzle-dazzle'' wont win with most peopleyou've got to show them, YOU KNOW THE SAYING "ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO HIM WHO WAITS." MAY BE SO BUT : GIVE US THE FELLOW WHO GOES AFTER THEM. ..- t That's exactly what we are going to do. We want more busi - ness and we are going right after it we are not going to wait for it to come to us we are going after it with BIGGER AND BETTER STOCKS OF RELIABLE MERCHANDISE, BIGGER AND BETTER VARIETIES OF THE WORLD'S MOST DEPENDABLE GOODS. And our prices will be such as to admit of no argument positively the lowest. All we ask is a comparison no "ifs," no "ands," no "buts," no "baits" JUST VALUE AND HONEST MERCHANDISE. Th low er world of fashion will be quite as gorgeous and elaborate for this on coming season as the upper strata. Do not be confused. We are not saying that the Bowery will go forth swatbed in rich garments of metallic lace and brocade that will put even the fashion denizens of Kifth Avenue to shame. The com parison lies between Milady's sump tuous outer garments and the inner layer which the stage has taught us to roughly classify as lingerie. It is no exaggeration to say that a proper inner wardrobe from the epidermis to the outer layer will cost as pretty a penny this year as the suit, coat, or dress that con ceals all this hidden treasure. Never has there been such a season of riotously rich and lovely lingerie. For the Gotham upper crust It Tnerfrts real jewels, old laces, rib bons of great price, handwork in volving years of labor In some far off Eastern land, novel and freakish effects in embroidery and divers trimmings, and most noticeable of all a scarcity of background for, all this applied wealth. "Lingerie shall cost much and be little," is the slogan of the inner garment makers. They say that the fitted lines of outer apparel make this shortage of inner ma terial a necessity, and that since lingerie shall be largely absent, what remains shall atone in beauty and richness. Negligees are the most opulent of all lingerie. Good taste Axes no limit to the money that can be put within these boudoir confections. A leading Fifth Avenue house shows a model of heavy, lustrous peach satin with an overdrape of the fin est Chantilly lace. Atop of this is a Mandarin Jacket of baby blue georgette lined with cloth of silver. Festoons of genuine seed pearls drip from the loose . sleeves. The skirt is pantaloon-style, and the wearer is guaranteed a ticket of admission to the most exacting harem. Teddies and nighties favor the vogue of pastel-shaded linens and other fine cotton fabrics. Apple blosson pinks, baby blues, lemon, ap ple-leaf green and orchid are favor ite colors. These cottons are favored How to Cultivate Thrift-- First Learn to distinguish between luxuries and ne cessities. Second Learn to know good value; learn where, when and how to buy; learn to judge clothing and shoes, and buy good material. Third Keep track of your expenses. Limit your , ."pleasure money" and choose wholesome pleasures. Deny yourselves the little things to get the big. -Fourth and perhaps the most important of all ''- START A 8AVI.VG8 ACCOUNT at The First National Bank and religiously deposit a certain portion of your earnings each pay day. Make this a duty and perform it. Such an account will earn you 4 per cent interest. 1mm Bank or SoPimoi Siirioi , ,;. The First National Bank or bund with costly hand work, rather than much applied trimming. One three figured nightie, flaunts 20 rows of hand tucking, six bands of drawn work, about six feet of a hand-embroidered floral motif, and a ribbon drawstring that alone is valued at tso a yard. The last season's vogue of nat terned lingerie which specialized In cerulean-hued bluebirds and .butter flies, is on the wane probably be cause our Bluebird guest has been back on his native shores for some time. Whenever any pattern is used. it is some bizarre, weird creation such as a wriggling green snake, a garment, free cannibal, or a bevy of alligators. Petticoats are almost entirely usurped by pantalets. It W consid ered very smart for these silken pettis to hang an Inch or so be low the skirt. The most chic effect Is considered achieved If they are of a vivid contrasting color, bo ruffled or lace-edged. - The boaa fide petticoats have substituted deep fringes for ruffled flounces. The fringes are of the self-material and are deemed an aid to perambulation. The yoke fud of 1830 Is back In the vogue. It is prophesied thnt i-rn. cheting will step Into the llmelieht once more as the most popular fem inine indoor sport. However, the most elite yokes are of rare old lace or embroideries. Scalloped effects are very good, especially If the scal lops are worked In some brilliant color. i $3,350.00 Hlx room- modern house In Ixnt an t Ion of rity. , $4,500.00 A beautiful brick rrslcloncp; modern; five room; in tine rralrienro section. $1,800.00 Six room houHe near mills; your own term.
