Malta rJI ?hcaa and ordara parable to The and Bulletin. SATURDAY, JANUARY 24. 1920 r OUR VIRTUOUS FRIEND. ' We note in a local newspaper the etatement that the official county turner, which 1b the weekly edition of The Bulletin, receives $30 per month tor publishing the proceedings of the county court. Since this is not so and in view of the purpose appar- entry actuating the statement, we I were at first inclined to call it a lie. Possibly, however, there was no In tent to deceive in respect to the mat ter of compensation and so we are willing to let it go as one of the in accuracies or misstatements which characterize the newspaper in ques tion whenever it attempts to deal with matters of fact. In view of the pose assumed by our newspaper friend, who virtuous ly asserts that it makes no charge for publishing the court proceedings, it might be proper to inquire why it charges the city more than the law allows' for the publication of street notices. Is it to make from the city what is lost otr the county work? - v Better Days. .; ' C I A better time is coming I am quite sure of this ! wnen you win see me thrumming my lyre m per- f feet bliss; the Reds, who claim attention, will be too scarce to mention, the serpent of dissension will lie , too weak to hiss. We all are growing saner with , every passing day ; the evidence grows plainer that pipe dreams fade away ; and soon we'll stand and - wonder why in the name of thunder we tried to stear asunder the things that ought to stay. You'll seeus backward gazing and Viewing, with a tear, our antics' most amazing, in one unholy year, when we were all elemented, distraught and discontented, and every day invented new kinds of doubt and fear. And, ph the heights of reason,' we'll mutter, "Can it be, that,. through one godless season no dome from bats-was-free? 0, can it be we ranted, .'. and clamored to have planted in this fair land en-:, chanted, fake kind of liberty?" Slow has beeni the waking from mild and bughouse dreams, but i now the morn is breaking, and sunlight on us j streams; and as the morn advances we'll come forth ' from our trances, while yet our eagle prances and ! fills the air with screams. - . ; WANTED Party to tnkn boarding house Hint of hVbruiu'y. il-ong Job.
