C. 197 BUSY STORES NITROGEN FORMING BACTERIA ORDERED Ksnchors Advised to Inoculate Soil at Same Time Tliat Acreage Is Sown to Alfalfa. The bigg&l order for cultures of nitrogen forming bacteria ever placed with the Oregon Agricultural college has just been sent In from Bend, H. A. Ward, of the First National bnnk stated this, morning. The order is based on the acreage provided for in the bank's recent order of 26,000 pounds of Grimm alfalfa seed tor 203 Central Oregon farmers. . Mr. Ward advises that ranchers sowing alfalfa inoculate the soil with bacteria at the same time, to insure good stands of the forage plant. The ' bacteria will be fur nished at cost by the agricultural college, so that the expense of in oculation per acre will be about 4 cents. There will probably be a sufficient supply to take care of the wants of other farmers than those who or dered seed, and all desiring bac teria are requested to communicate -with Mr. Ward.
