An un usuully larse crowd Including friends from Tuniulo and Cloverdale enjoyed the dancing and cards at the home of J. 1). Dawson last Sat urday evening, given for the benefit of the community hall. About $36 was raised from the evening's enter tainment. Much fun was created and a number of dollars was added to the funds by a stunt of fines pro moted by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wal lace, Jesse Harter and Wilma Ben nett acting as mascot. Fines were imposed upon individuals for var ious offenses such as being the fattest person present, being too good look ing or for losing in the basket ball game. The ladies served a lunch of sandwiches, cake and coff 'e. Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Hartley and Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Elkins attended the Abbey sale in Cloverdale last Friday. Frank Armstrong of Denver. Colo rado, arrived in I'lainview Saturday and is spending a short time visiting his sister Mrs. J. A. W Scoggin und his brother, A. W. Armstrong. Mr. and Mrs. P. Van Tassel. A. E. Hoss and A. W. Armstrong and fam ily were callers at Bend for the day Wednesday. Nellie Van Tassel was the guest of Ida Hoss Wednesday night. F. A. Powers, C. F. Challln. and A. E. Hoss attended the irrigation school at Redmond two days last week. A. C. McAllister was In at tendance four days. The members of the O. D. O. club spent a busy afternoon at the home of .Mrs. Knickerbocker last Thursday sewing on garments for Red Cross Relief work. A dainty lunch was served by the hostess. The next meeting of the O. D. O. club will be held at Hip home of Mrs. F. W. I.everenz. on Thursday after noon. March 20. Mrs. L. Pulliam. Mrs. A. K. Hoss and Mrs. Knickerbocker, were ill several days of the past week. Mrs. J. H. Klkins made a business trip to Redmond Friday. .Mr. and Mrs. II. T. Hartley and Ray Armstrong attended the basket ball game at Tumalo Thursday cven inir. Ralph Stahli of Portland, spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Stahli. The pupils of the Plainview school enjoyed a big Iron fire and picnic in the woods south of the school house lust Friday afternoon. Tonce Knickerbocker of Bend was visiting at the Pinelawn ranch over the week end. The hay question is becoming u ser ious problem with many of the stock owners. Mr. and Mrs. l ('. llollinshead spent Sunday with ticorgu and Mrs. M. C. Iloguu. They have both had a siege with the inlluenza and this Is their first trip away from home for several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Golden and a couple of friends from llend spent Sunday with Mrs. Guidon's parents, Mr. and Mrs. 1'. B. Heal. Claude Benson and his cousin, Orie Sutton, and Grover II. Caldwell went to Pringle Fulls on skies Sun day. They expect to spend several days visiting with Bob Gathergood. The stage company carrying mall from Bend to Silver Lake is having lots of trouble getting the mall In on account of the bad roads. E. B.
