It is to be hoped that the call for funds for the relief of the suffering Armenians will meet with a ready - response in Deschutes county. The county quota Is small only $3100 and JSOO has already been paid. leaving a balance of $2300. All drives, in the past have come at a time when business was dull, prices were high and when the un certainties of the war led people to husband their resources more care fully than they would in prosperous times. Nevertheless, the response was quick and the calls made on us were more than met. Now. with the war over we are coming into a time of tremendous prosperity and all the more readily are able to answer this new call. Out of our abundance let us give. White River Flour is CHEAPER because it makes MORE loaves. Don't be fooled into buying LOW PRICED flour thinking you are getting something cheaper than WHITE. RIVER flour. PRICE does not decide the value of a barrel of flour as much as the NUMBER OP LOAVES OF BREAD that can be made from the barrel of flour. Every sack' of WHITE RIVER flour is GUARANTEED. Your grocer will refund the purchase price without argument if you do not find WHITE RIVER flour the BEST you ever used. Try a sack of WHITE RIVER flour at our risk, made from a special blend of the finest selected wheats, by Oregon's finest mill. Sold by all grocers at Bend, Oregon. United Warehouse Company DISTRIBUTING AGENTS A SIMPLE TEST. There is a very simple .test to be applied to the plan for the league of nations now coming in for such bitter criticism in the senate. Is the plan, taken all in all, likely to bring an end to war, or will the world find peace in a return to former con ditions? More specifically will the United States be safer if it joins such a league, or by attempting to maintain its so-called "splendid iso lation"? It seems to us that not only our safety but our duty lies in the league. It may be that, as the sena torial critics charge, the United States will sign away some degree of its sovereignty by Joining, but will not the loss be more than offset by the gain? We will be simply sharing- in a pact of civilization just as individual man has done as he has found himself associated with his fellows in community lite. Kipling tells of a man who found it hard to "Come in, and 'ands "up and be still," but In the title of the poem he agrees that it is a pagan attitude. We are no longer pagans. World peace is the hope of civiliza tion. We can afford to give a little national sovereignty to gain a world democracy. sidered a most favorable augury for Bend's future. Considerable work is expected in Kenwood this spring and summer, for it was learned that the Kenwood Promotion company is considering the construction of a number of houses, either for sale or for rent to persons of moderate means. No definite details on these plans, how ever, are as yet available. NATIONAL FOREST CAMPS MADE READY Deschutes Officials Will Offer 44 Sites as Headquarters for Camp ing and Fishing Parties.
