Mrs. Nowton was in charge of the local Red Cross work rooms yester day, and the following were in at tendance: Mrs. Daub, Mrs. McKay, Mrs. Millar, iMrs. Hamilton, Mrs. French. Mrs. Eord, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Clarno, Mrs. Stout, Mrs. Besr.. Mrs. Caspar. Mrs. Nelson, Mrs. Hulse. Those who were at the Red Cross rooms Tuesday were: Mrs. Larson, Mrs. Hay?s. Mrs. Hulse. Dried Apple f'-ke. 1 cup d.-i-d apples (cook until plump ) 1 cup molasses cup bu-'.ter or y cup fat 1 cup buttermilk 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 egg 3 cups flour 1 teaspoon soda 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon cloves 1 teaspoon nutmeg. Cook molasses and dried apples until thick. Allow the mixture to cool. Cream the butter, add the sugar and egg slightly beaten. Mix and sift the dry Ingredients. Add the milk and dry ingredients alter nately to the eg,g mixture. Lastly add the molasses and applet. Mix thoroughly. Turn into a prepared pan and bake 30 minutes ill a mod erate oven. ITaapliniy Oaks, Either canned or dried raspberries, loganberries or strawberries may be used in making this cake. 2 eggs 1 cup brown sugar cup butter or 'a cup fat 1 cup canned strawberries, rasp berries or loganberries, or well soaked dried berries teaspoon nutmeg 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 tablespoon sour milk 1 teaspoon soda 1 cup flour. Cream the butter, add the sugar and egg well beaten. Mix and sift the dry ingredients. Add the milk and dry ingredients and fruit to the agg mixture and mix thoroughly. Turn into a prepared pan and bake 30 minutes in a moderate oven. Scotch Oatmeal Cakes. 2 cups rolled oats 2 cups Hour teaspoon salt , cup sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Combine all and rub in cup fat. Dissolve 1 teaspoon soda In cup hot water and add. Roll as for cookies, cut I4x3 inches. Bake in moderate oven. Date Cakes. 2H cups rolled oats 2 14 cups flour 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup butter or 4-5 cup fat cup cold water 1 teaspoon soda. Mix like cake. Roll very thin and spread '4 with filling, cover with other half. Cut and bake. Fining-. 1 lb. dates 's cup boiling wat'-r 1 cup brown sugar Cook in double boiler to form paste.
