During the early part of his stage 'career, Mr. Beban devoted himself almost entirely to comedy and his entrance into the more serious form 'of dramatic art came about through one of the little circumstances that so often change a man's whole life. He had heard a recitation in verse of a little Italian child, "Rosa." The simple little story appealed so to Mr. Beban that one night at a large beef steak dinner in Chicago, ho found himself telling a dialect. It was hi: first bit of serious acting, and the hit it made caused him to include it in his repertoire. Later he wrote sketch around the idea and called it "The Sign of the Rose." It was an instantaneous hit as was the motion picture, "An Alien," which he wrote from the same theme and which be- came one ot the marked successes of the screen world. Mr. Beban 's ap- pears on Thursday and Friday at the Liberty Theatre in "Lost In Transit,' his newest Paramount Picture photo play. The Liberty Theatre announces that the new Mary Pickford-Artcraft picture, "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, adapted from the famous book and play of the same name, by Kate Douglas Wiggin and Charlotte Thompson, will be at that popular playhouse on Sunday and Monday. The announcement of this film has attracted considerable interest among the particular admirers of Mary Pick ford, as well as the many thousands who have read the charming story or seen the play.
