Bond will be on the map so far as Central Oregon Is concerned along about the 4th and 5th or July, with the plans that are being made, by the committoo of business men, which is in charge of the celebration. Publicity matter drawing atten tion to the local two days festivities will be spread broadcast throughout the Interior by stage drivers and by the bill posters of the Cole Bros. World Toured Shows, which will ap pear here on July 4. Making Its decision to show in Bend July 4, a representative of this circus company was in Bend last week and preferred the services of his men in aiding the local commit tee in briuging to the attention of the people tributary (o Bend the two gala days. In addition this troup of circus people will offer to the local committee the use of one of its Tour bands in the parade in the morning. So that no conflict will occur in scheduling the parades ot the circus , and local people, the representative entered into an agree ment with the committee whereby it will hold up its parade until after the local parade has been held. 'So far as bringing the circus company to Bend, the committee exercised no influence. . Merchants of the city are to be urged to prepare special features In their establishments in the way ot decoration, and to dress up their places of business for the occasion as attractively as possible. A cam paign for cleanup will also be car ried on by the committee on clean up and decoration so that the town may be in as bright looking condi tion as possible. Frank R. Prince, who is in charge of the parade, is urging that local people confer with him as soon as it is convenient to make entry for the parade to be held on the morning of July 4. . Managers of the baseball clubs ot the Central Oregon league will meet in Bend to arrange for the series of three games which will be held on the'4tli and Sth between Bend, Shevlin-Hixon. and Prinevllle. The people of Bend are urged to Invite their friends to come to Bend to celebrate these two days. CHINESE CABINET MEMBERS LOSE JOBS 'CBt United PreM to the Bend Bulletin) . PEKING, . June 11 Two high Chinese officials, Chen Chin-tao, minister of finance, and Yin Ju-lien, vice-minister in the same department, are looking for new Jobs here today, following the disclosures of a brib ery scandal In which they were im plicated. The vice-minister when railed before President LI Yuan-hung admitted that the finance department had accepted $100,000. gold from a syndicate which put forward a scheme last year for buying and melting brass coins. President Li investigated the charges. Then he issued a mandate dismissing the officials. Criminal proceedings may be instituted against them. FUND APFORTIONKD The proceeds of'the one-twentieth of a mill tax levied by the state for the support of fairs has just been apportioned by Secretary of State Olcott, the amount coming to Des ehutes county being $33.28, accord ing to Portland papers. Last night the Bend Theatre was turned into a fairy paradise at the showing ot the. Grimm fairy tale. Snow White," in which the charm ing little Marguerite Clark was the star. There were witches, dwarts. wierd cabins and all the mysterious paraphernalia which goes to the mak ing of a fairy tale for the screen. It was an irresistible tale played in a most wonderful manner, in the same costumes used in the original stage production of Winthrop Ames' Little Theatre, New York, In which" the ex quisite little Marguerite Clark aUo appeared as the star. The photoplay is an elaborate production of seven reels and will be shown for the last time in Bend at the Bend Theatre tonight. Another treat is in store for Bend Theatre patrons, when Douglas Fair banks appears there again tomorrow and Wednesday night in the "Good Bad Man," which is a Triangle drama chock full of action, thrills, fun and laughter. He tries to be a bad man but his ever cheerful, smiling and happy nature won't let him. It is a thrilling series of events in which the sunny person of Douglas Fair banks plunges along in a mad cur rent of love, thrills, gun-play and laughter. CHARGES MADE OF FAULTY MUNITIONS (By United PreM to the Bend Bulletin) WASHINGTON, D. C, June 11 Following sensational disclosures made before the Senate Naval Af fairs committee today a sweeping In vestigation was ordered of charges that ordnance ammuninion was de fective. The charges had been com municated to Senator Freillnghuy sen. Secretary of the Navy Daniels charged that the information was given by a spy or a traitor in the Navy Department. Senator Frelinghuysen received an anonymous letter containing specific references to confidential documents on which his charges were made. FREIGHT INCREASE BIG Receipt of Goods at Ik'pot Gain One- Kourth in Six Week. Incoming freight and express re ceived at Bend has shown an increase ot 25 per cent during the past six weeks, said D. Keller, agent for the Oregon Trunk and O.-W. It. & N. railroads. In a statement this morn ing. Notwithstanding this fact, how ever, there Is a steady Increase in the outgoing household goods from Bond A year ago all household goods were coming In and practically none going out. Last Saturday six families left and took their goods with them, ac cording to Mr. Keller. Lumber shipments from Bend show no variation from the usual out going products of the mills. CATTLEMEN PLEASED WITH CRANE PRAIRIE More Cattle Will Re Handled This Year on Rungc Than Last Year in Increased Oaptut, Crane Prairie will be a stockmen's paradise, according, to W. G. Hast ings, supervisor of the Deschutes National forest. Now that the snow is off the prairie and tho waters of the Deschutes river receding. Central Oregon cattlemen are beginning to take their cattle to the prairie for summer feeding. There are about 200, ot the 1125 head that the prairie will handle this season already on the range. The grass will he the best it has been In a number of years say stock men who have been in that section this week. The policy of the forest this year will be to graze as many cattle as the prairie can comfortably handle. No effort will be made to fatten stock on the range, this Is to be done in tho fall and winter on the ranches of the stockmen who aro using the prairie. Under the policy of giving use permits to a larger number of cattle the forestry office believe? it will be carrying out the Idea of op ening its resources for larger pro duction of livestock.
