I.asky production of "Tlio I.ush." a vltul society drsrnu, written esiieclully for lier by the noted writer, Paul West, and pre pared for the screen by (litnrgo Du bois Proctor. It Is a Purumouiit pic ture, Kor the story of "Tho I.nsh," Pnul West litis selected a forgotten little Isluud, HI. lliitlHte, mid the druwlug rooms of u fiishlotitiblo society. Tho scenes of the picture uro luid, wus settled several centuries ugo, by some hardy voyugers from Ilrlttany und, although the rest of the world bus udvuuced, this Inland still rvtuins tho customs and the religious bigotry of Its uiiccHtors. The Inhabitants uro ruled by a "Perfect," whoso word is nhsoluto luw, und ono of the customs Is thut any womun sucrlflclng her holier. Hho falls In love with u young chup from tho outer world who hus been neurly drowned und brought lo her futher's house. Kho goes to tho malnlutid and they urn married. Miss Doro Is supported by a cast of un usual excellence, Including such prominent urtlsts us Klllott Dexter, J uuics Nolll, Veda McKvers, Ray mond Hatton, Thomus Dclmar, June Wolff, und others. OPK.MNO OK INN HI't'CKHS (Continued from Page 1.) public spirit and exceeding good taste of the creator of this beautiful place of entertainment and to ex press the hope that he may receive a rich reward not only in the plaudits of the multitude we ardently hope will follow us through Its doors, but that he will also receive that more substantial return to which he Is so richly entitled. Then follows my oft repeated conviction of the vast im portance lo every community and In terest of tho modern hotel or Inn, as this has been so fittingly called. "No single public Institution cuts so largo a figure In tho framing up of social activities, tho creation of tho community spirit and In the de velopment of all constructive work as the modern hotel. I am sure this one will make my Central Oregon R. 11. work much easier. . "I have Just come from Del Monte, where tho newspapers have railroads built whilo you wait, and you don't have to wait long. Nevertheless, to bo more serious, more railroad build ing and like activities are cooked up whore our creature comforts are best catered to than tho average of hu manity ever dreams of. "California's wonderful develop ment has been mora largely due to her tourist attractions, chief of which are her hotels and climate than to anything olse. There are now 130,000 tourlslB In California spending over 11,000,000 por day, $30,000,000 per month, or $120,000,000 for the fourr tourist months. Among them arc? thousands of investors and homo sookers who ultimately put many millions more Into property or busi ness enterprises or in buying and de veloping lands which would never have been done but for tholr first iOFl The Ellison-White Musical Entertainers capable of giving an of wide variety and superior excellence TO-NIGHT trip us delighted tourists. "These wonderful results of Cali fornia tourist und hotel life In wln tra will bo uttulned in large purl In tho Puclflc Northwest when we are prepured to properly entertain thut kind of people In summer. Ilend's magnificent mountain views, glor ious climate mid other attractions now supplemented by this superb hotel will ho the strongest possible magnet to accomplish this much de sired result. Our country not only supplies everything for the summer tourist, but It affords business and Investment opportunities fur beyond thelr's. "Hut wo still lack one great es sential a through rull line from I'ortlnnd vlu llond to California and tho east. Wo cannot hope' to ad equately realize on all these resourc es and attractions while our Central Oregon country Is sldetrucked by only one brunch line service. Aguln permit mu to appeal to you to Join mo In straining every nerve to bring this ubout at tho curliest possible moment.". GIRLS KNOW LITTLE OF WAYS OF BABIES Test Hlioivs Hiirvard Men nro More Intimately Acjtiaiiitl With the Hubjert. (Ily Unltni I'rra. to th Ilrnd Bulletin) CAMHKIDGE, Muss., March 19. Twenty Hadcllffo girls were asked by Prof. George E. Johnson, of Har vard, how muny different ways a baby creeps. They could think of only two. Prof. Johnson derided their ignorance and said he asked 20 Har vard students the same question and got seven answers, towit: They creep on all fours. They hitch along, using their hips for naviga tion. Homo roll along like a ship in a stormy sea. Some, Instead of creeping forward, creep backward. Rome move on their hands, lifting their bodies as a man would on crutches. Some move forward with hands and feet In front, like a rab bit. Borne put their heels In front of them, propelling themselves along. This test proved, the professor said, that the boys were more observ ing and had better memories than the girls.
