“Bosch” Season 6
On Friday, April 17, don’t miss
the Season 6 premiere of this
procedural drama based on the
many crime novels written by
Michael Connelly about the cases
of Det. Harry Bosch. Titus Welliver
(“Deadwood”) stars as the epon-
ymous detective, alongside Jamie
Hector (“The Strain”), who plays
his partner, Det. Jerry Edgar. The
pair works together to solve cases
in Los Angeles. Each season thus
far has focused on one or more of
Connelly’s 31 Bosch novels, and
Season 6 is based on the events of
“The Overlook,” Connelly’s 13th
novel to feature the detective.
Bosch joins forces with the FBI as
he investigates the murder of a
medical physicist and the disap-
pearance of a large amount of
radioactive material. In the wrong
hands, those materials could poi-
son the entire city, or could even
be used to create a dirty comb and
cause another 9/11-type situation.
Now, Bosch must work alongside
the FBI in order to save not only
his family, but the city he has
sworn to protect.
whomever is stuck in quarantine
with you, hopefully you haven’t
reached the point of insanity the
way Willem Dafoe (“Aquaman,”
2018) and Robert Pattinson
(“Water for Elephants,” 2011) do
in this Oscar-nominated drama.
Available for streaming on Thurs-
day, April 16, the two actors star
as superstitious lighthouse keeper
Thomas Wake (Dafoe) and his
new apprentice, Ephraim Winsolw
(Pattinson). Isolated on an island
off the coast of New England,
Winslow struggles to maintain
his grasp on reality as he copes
with the bizarre habits of Wake,
vicious storms, intense labor and
dwindling rations. This black-and-
white psychological drama has
a Lovecraftian style that will set
your mind reeling.
“Selah and the Spades”
(2019)
High school hierarchy is a com-
plicated beast, but the students
at the prestigious Haldwell
boarding school have it down to
a science in this Prime original
film premiering Friday, April 17.
The school is run by underground
factions that feed the student
body’s worst vices. There’s the
Sea, former teachers’ pets who
help students cheat on tests, for
a price; the Skins, who cover all
of the student body’s gambling
desires; the Bobbys, who organize
every major underground event;
the Prefects, who ensure that all il-
legal activity flies under the radar
of the school’s administration;
and the Spades, the top faction.

“The Lighthouse” (2019)
Amidst the chaos of the current
pandemic, most of us are stuck in
quarantine and restricted to our
homes for the time being. And
while you may be going stir crazy,
and you may be ready to throttle
Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson as seen in “The Lighthouse”
mers (Lovie Simone, “Greenleaf”),
a senior who is as vicious as she
is charming, and she gets rid of
anyone who could even possibly
diminish her position of power. As
her final year goes on, Selah must
deal with the reality that she will
soon lose control of the Spades,
and tries to assert her dominance
over a sophomore named Paloma
(Celeste O’Connor, “Wetlands,”
2019), who has begun to outshine
her. Don’t miss this intense ado-
lescent drama from Tayarisha Poe,
who has been named a “Director
to Watch” by both Variety and the
Palm Springs International Film
Festival.
BINGE THIS:
“The Mentalist”
Simon Baker (“The Devil Wears
Prada,” 2006) stars as former
celebrity “psychic” Patrick Jane in
this procedural drama available
now in full. When his wife and
daughter are brutally murdered
by a serial killer named Red John,
Jane is devastated, and leaves
the spotlight by outing himself
as a fraud who simply uses keen
observational skills to read people.
He then offers the use of his skills
to the California Bureau of Intel-
ligence, and works as a consultant
with the team leading the hunt
for Red John. That team is lead by
the strict and professional Special
Agent Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tun-
ney, “Prison Break”), who is less
than pleased by the addition of a
civilian consultant. Rounding out
the team are Kimball Cho (Tim
Kang, “Magnum P.I.”), their main
interrogator, Wayne Rigsby (Owain
Yeoman, “Emergence”), the
arson expert, and Grace Van Pelt
(Amanda Righetti, “Colony”), who
specializes in technology and com-
puter hacking. Despite his uncon-
ventional methods (that definitely
don’t follow protocol), the team
quickly comes to appreciate Jane’s
insight and skill as they solve cases
and work to track down Red John.
Catch all seven seasons of this
exciting series now.
