WEDNESDAY
Halloween, Yearwood style: New episodes
include annual costumed edition
By Michelle Rose
TV Media
N
ot “Every Girl” can say she’s
a famous singer, TV chef,
bestselling author and entre-
preneur. But Trisha Yearwood
is living proof that you can do
it if you dream it. And success
is sweetest when you can
share it with family and friends,
especially during this fun time
of year.
Yearwood recently released
a new album — her first
all-original solo effort since
2007’s “Heaven, Heartache
and the Power of Love” — and
she’s busy with a full touring
schedule. Luckily, that hasn’t
stopped her from making new
episodes of “Trisha’s Southern
Kitchen,” which air every
Saturday this month on Food
Network.
After cooking up career
milestone-inspired recipes in
the Oct. 19 episode, Yearwood
gets ready for Halloween in
the episode on Oct. 26. And if
you’re a longtime fan, you know
you can look forward to seeing
Yearwood and friend/hairstyl-
ist Glenda Martin unleash the
fun with creative costumes and
snacks.
It’s difficult to imagine
anything will top Yearwood’s
costume in 2017, when she
dressed up as husband Garth
Brooks — complete with
his much-talked-about 2017
beard. The new Oct. 26 episode
is titled “Ghoulish Gatsby,”
and that means the decadence
of the 1920s will be roaring
back to life, at least in costume
form.
But let’s talk food. The Hal-
loween menu is a party-friendly
one, with a festive fruit gelatin
mold, as well as fried olives,
shrimp cocktail with dipping
sauces and spider web deviled
eggs. To cap it all off, the cos-
tumed duo will mix up an apple
champagne cocktail that’s per-
fect for this time of year.
This year’s Halloween-
themed episode of “Trisha’s
Southern Kitchen” is part
of Food Network’s “Sweets
and Treats Weekend,” which
runs through Oct. 26 and 27.
The special-themed block of
daytime programming brings
viewers back-to-back Hal-
loween episodes of everything
from “The Pioneer Woman” to
“Guy’s Ranch Kitchen.”
Last year’s special prime-time
edition of “Trisha’s Southern
Kitchen” may have started a
new annual tradition on Food
Network, one that delivers a
double dose of Halloween done
Yearwood style. The daytime
lineup for Sunday, Oct. 27, also
includes “Trisha’s Halloween
Spooktacular,” which features
friends, costumes, decorations
and zombie-themed treats —
all the classic ingredients for a
hauntingly good time.
