lic is invited to get rid of con-
fidential papers that need to be
shredded.
A Community Shred Event
is being sponsored by Old West
Federal Credit Union. People
can bring items to be shredded
Thursday, June 27 from 9 a.m.
to noon at 1739 N. First St.,
Hermiston. There is no charge.
Suggested items to be shred-
ded include tax documents over
six years old, bills that have had
payments cleared, insurance
records for expired policies,
and old investment documents,
credit card statements and pay
stubs.

during the Community Yard
Sale.
People are invited to rent
vendor space to sell everything
from yard sale items, crafts,

from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Roy
Raley Park, 1205 S.W. Court
Ave., Pendleton. Vendor regis-
tration, which is $20, is due by
noon Thursday.

Movies in the Park

weekly movies are presented by
Pendleton Parks & Recreation.
This summer’s Movies in
the Park program is offered on
Fridays at dusk (approximately
9 p.m.) at Community Park,
1000 S.W. 37th St., Pendleton.
This week’s flick is “Aquaman”
and July 5 is “Sandlot.” There is
no movie on July 12. The free
movies continue each Friday
through Aug. 9.
People are encouraged to
bring lawn chairs or a blanket.
Concessions will be available
for purchase. In case of inclem-
ent weather, cancellations will
be posted by 6 p.m. at the park
and Pendleton Parks & Recre-
ation’s Facebook page.

Mid-Columbia Bass Anglers
invite kids 14 and younger to
participate in the Perch Jerk in
memory of Bill Johnson.
The event is Saturday from
7-11 a.m. at the southwest end of
McKay Dam. Participants need
to be registered by 9 a.m. There
is no entry fee. No boats allowed.
In addition to fishing, there
will be free hot dogs and refresh-
ments. All participants win a

High school
golfers can receive
scholarships
UMATILLA — The coor-
dinating committee of the
Kings & Queens Couples Golf
Tournament is offering four
$750 scholarships.
To be eligible, graduating
seniors must have participated
in their high school’s golf pro-
gram at schools in Umatilla and
Morrow counties. Two boys and
two girls will be chosen. The stu-
dents do not have to pursue golf
as a college athlete to be eligible.
The applications are due by

Splash into Fourth of
July at pool party
HERMISTON — Tickets for
the Stars and Stripes Pool Party
offer the best seats in the house
during Hermiston’s Fourth of
July fireworks display.
Ticket sales are limited and
must be purchased by Wednes-
day, July 3, while supplies last.
They are $16 for ages 15 and
older or $12 for ages 2-14. The
Thursday, July 4, pool party
runs from 6-10:30 p.m. at Herm-
iston Family Aquatic Center. It
includes swimming, live music
and a catered meal from Dick-
ey’s Barbecue Pit. Tickets are

Heppner farmers
market resumes
season
HEPPNER — The Wil-
low Creek Farmers Market will
resume its season Friday, July 5.
The market runs Fridays from
MISSION — Area golfers are
invited to hit the links during
the Charity Golf Tournament &
Auction.
In its 11th year, the event
serves as a fundraiser for the
United Way of the Blue Moun-
tains (formerly the United Way
of Umatilla & Morrow Coun-
ties). The tournament and auc-
tion is Friday, July 26. Golf-
ers will tee off with a shotgun
start at 8:30 a.m. at the Wild-
horse Resort Golf Course, Mis-
sion. The cost is $100 per person,
which includes green fees, a golf
cart, tee prize bags and lunch.
Limited to 30 teams, people are
encouraged to register their team
or sign up to join a foursome.
Cash prizes will be awarded
for golf contests and pro shop
gift certificates will be distrib-
uted as team prizes. In addition,
an auction and raffle will be held
in Wildhorse’s Cayuse Room
during lunch. Tickets are $1 each
or six for $5.

Facebook group
PENDLETON — For those
playing Harry Potter Wizards
Unite, the Pendleton Public
Library has started a Facebook
group just for you.
It offers a place where com-
munity members can meet other
players, exchange friend codes,
and talk about all things Harry
